One star is too generous. We should have known how it was going to go down even before we entered the building based on the first 'F' in the Waffle House sign precariously hanging by it's final screw. However, it was late and we were hungry so we took a chance. First, the setting: the place is downright discusting. Trash overflowed out of the bin and onto the floor in the kitchen. Several times throughout the evening the staff informed us and our surrounding tables that food was delayed because it had fallen on the floor, and I am fairly certain it was never picked up. (Though in hindsight I do feel lucky it wasn't served to us anyways.) Behind the counter, one could glimpse the sad state of the waffle irons, and their grotesque adornment of aged and caked on batter that spilled onto the counter beneath. Second, the food: actually, it's not as bad as one would expect, but it's expensive for what you get! One very plain cheeseburger (patty, cheese, bun) and a side of hashbrowns was $7.50. You're better off eating at Worlds of Fun for that price. Finally, and most offensively, the service: Before we even ordered our food, my friend spilled a drink. It took an entire container of napkins to clean it up, but the enormous pile of wet napkins was never acknowledged and the empty drink was only given attention well after our food arrived. When we ordered, our other dining companion politely informed the waitress that her son had an egg allergy, so his food would need to be cooked on a clean part of the griddle. From our waitress's nonchalant response, everyone else at the table knew that kid was breaking out in hives before the night was over. It was obviously too much to ask to clean anything in that hell hole. Sure enough, he started breaking out, so I tried to wave down our server. I got the attention of someone else, and I asked her for three to-go boxes and our checks. I received two boxes and zero checks. So I kept trying to wave for someone else. Finally, someone sitting at the counter pointed at me and told our waitress. She literally turned around, looked at me waving at her, and said "that's fine," and turned back to continue yelling at the other workers. We were all so angry at that point we were ready to throw down our money and just leave. Unfortunately, we didn't actually have enough cash between us and we needed to use a card. But I still couldn't get the attention of our waitress. Our friend finally had to just give us her money and get her son out of there. We eventually went up to the counter and tried to pay. The cash register was broken, and we still couldn't get her full attention. She continued to turn around to yell at her co-workers while we were standing in front of her, trying to give her our money. We finally managed to pay and leave, wishing we had been able to do so 30 minutes earlier when I initially asked for our checks. Actually, we were wishing we had eaten somewhere...
Read morePublic Announcement. If you are visiting KC, MO and wanting great food and service, you must visit this Waffle House Location and ask for Mz. T. Not only are you greeted warmly walking in, but the personal care taken to get food the way we asked, the personalization of asking for our names, and the spiritual encouragement left on the receipt was beautiful. I can't say if any other Waffle House has ask for me and my wife's name and conversated lightly as food was served. The food was great and we knew we needed to take a to go meal for dinner. Yes it was that good if you are wondering! Hats off to the chef on the grill. Whenever we make a return visit we will go out of the way to visit this particular location and see Mz. T and crew. I expect to see her picture on the wall because surely she needs all the requirements that I believe an employer who want for representing the best experience for a dining in visit. We also cannot forget the personalized note given from her thanking us for coming and allow her to be of service. What a refreshing blessing to know that GOOD customer service is still alive and well. Blessings to the staff. P S. It would not surprise us if she became the face of the franchise 👍💗😊...
Read moreOverall I feel like this Waffle House is going down hill. I would eat here all the time on break. But about 7 months ago I had stopped going because I was fed rotten bacon and it was basically shrugged off by the staff saying “We just opened this pack.” Doesn’t matter food can go bad in a closed container. Well I tried eating there again for dinner. We weren’t greeted as we walked in the door. It was only after we were discussing where we wanted to sit that the lady doing dishes said to sit where we’d like. The waitress we had was nice however I don’t know her name since no one had a name tag on. She was on top of everything. As soon as we sat down she got our drink order and food order. I believe in all the years I have ate at any Waffle House she was the only one to offer us a pie. She made sure to keep our drinks refilled and checked on us through out the meal. The meal was good, however my bacon on my bacon burger was a little overcooked which made it hard to eat. Both my fiancé and I ordered a large hashbrown with our burgers but for some reason he had much more than me and half of mine we burnt. The waitress was really the only good part of our...
