Hong Kong's Cafe — Restaurant in Katy

Not really sure why all the good reviews. In a nutshell the food was mundane. In other words it had no creativity or flavor.

Egg drop soup was bland. No chives, no nothing just water, corn starch and egg. No spice, no scallions, nothing. So I added salt and pepper it it tasted like water with salt and pepper.

Crab puffs-greasy (when you pick one up there is a lot of oil left underneath). Again, just cream cheese in a shell. They were huge but the cream cheese part was a little ball so it was mostly crust.

Fried rice-nothing in the fried rice. No peas, no egg, no carrot, nothing. Just rice. Bland so I added salt and pepper but you can only do so much with salt and pepper.

Egg rolls-soggy with nothing but cabbage inside. We actually ordered pork egg rolls but the lady said the plates came with chicken egg rolls. But there was nothing inside but cabbage. No flavor.

Lemon chicken-again, nothing but the chicken and crust, no bell pepper, no carrots, no pineapple, nothing.

Orange beef-big portion but again no flavor and nothing but the beef in sauce. At least one orange peel would be nice.

In the end it wasn't good. It wasn't bad because there wasn't enough flavor to be bad, but for the money I could have eaten white bread and gotten just as full and the same flavor as...

Usually don't write reviews because just don't like having power over a business like that, but this was the worst Chinese food ever had. The wontons and crab rangoos were over fried to the point it felt like was chewing on burnt toast that was left out for 2 days with a tiny bit of filling as if they were rationing portions to save money due to the lack of attention they get for their souless entrees. ordered the sweet and sour chicken which was nothing special and it was something could of made better at home with a tv dinner. don't mean to be rude but it seems this place is just not happy to make food at all and their customers are just walking wallets to them. Instead of people that are passionate to cook food for people and make them want to come back because it tastes so good, you instead got something that felt like a prison chef would of done a better job. I had gone to this restaurant several times with my disabled son who I keep in the car and during cauvet she had brought our food out to us in this last time it was kind of raining and she sounded like she did not want to bring our food out to us there were no other customers and she finally hesitatingly brought it out and she did not bring us any plates or anything and I called back in I asked her if she could bring me plates and she said will you just ordered the one order of such-and-such and I said excuse me?
