10 Stars! - I have been to many restaurants in my 4 decades on planet Earth, probably more than I should. So when I say I've eaten amazing food, I really mean it! This was my first visit to Mia's Table in Katy TX, on a suggestion from the guest accompanying me for lunch. She had only been here a couple times before and had said it was "really good". My first impression was, the place is very nice for a walk-up order type place. It's sort of in the same vein as Willie Burger or McCallisters. The big difference here is the menu combines those specific items into one menu; Burgers, salads, sandwich's, meatloaf, chicken fried meat of choice, etc. - so the pricing is about what you would see at those places as well, overpriced. I was skeptical and overwhelmed by the menu. After some consideration and waving other patrons through that Knew what they wanted for lunch, I finally settled on the meatloaf and the chicken fried chicken. Sides were mashed potatoes, man and cheese, and green beans. Not long after finding our table and having a couple tea refills, the food was on its way! Impressive doesn't cover it. Sure it was comfort food on plates and bowls but everything looked thoughtfully placed. Portions were ample. Everything piping hot. You know how when you cut into a piece of friend chicken it tends to fight the knife? Not here. I could have used a butter knife to threaten the chicken into falling apart! Same with the meatloaf which looked like it had been grilled on each side after being baked in the ovens of Heaven for 24 hours at perfect temperature. The mashed potatoes were perfect consistency, and were full of flavor. The mac and cheese was gourmet. The green beans....some of the best vegetables I have ever eaten. I'm sure the bacon had something to do with it! The meals even came with a slice of grilled Texas toast also to absolute flavor perfection... One bite and I instantly knew the price wasn't overboard, it was worth every last cent! All the food I've been presented and all the 5 star places I have been... Mia's Table is without a doubt one of the best places I've ever eaten. All on the way home we reminisced about how wonderful everything tasted. I have some regular go to's when dining out but this experience is going to be changing that list and Mia's Table will be going right at the top! Thank you for an amazing experience and I already look forward to my next meal at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis home-style cooking haven should come with a warning: "Caution ā You may develop an addiction to grandma's cooking!" From the moment I walked in, the aroma of fried chicken and nostalgia hit me like a comforting slap in the face.
Their fried chicken? I'm convinced they've struck a deal with the poultry gods because it's crispy, juicy, and downright magical. I almost proposed to my plate right then and there. And don't get me started on the mashed potatoes with gravy ā it's the kind of comfort that makes you forget all your adulting responsibilities.
But hold your taste buds, because the jalapeƱo cream corn just waltzed in and stole the show. It's so flavorful; I considered taking a bath in it. The spice level was like a culinary rollercoaster ā thrilling yet comforting.
The staff? Friendlier than a puppy with a wagging tail. They practically handed me a bib and said, "Prepare to get messy, my friend." Parking was a breeze, and even though my wallet shed a tear, the taste bud party was so epic that I considered it a worthy investment.
Sure, it's a tad pricey, but if you're not willing to splurge on a fried chicken fiesta that leaves your taste buds doing the cha-cha, are you even living? Worth every penny and then some. I'll be back, with stretchy pants and a hunger that only grandma's kitchen...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe visited Mia's Table in Katy on a Wednesday for lunch. Not overcrowded and very easy to get a table. Decor is fresh and overall had a good aesthetic vibe in the restaurant. I had the chicken fried steak and my wife had the pork chops - both were VERY good. Portion size is excellent. The not-so-good for folks eating in the dining room: I gave it 3/5 stars for three reasons: 1. It was LOUD in the dining room. The restaurant was at about 60% capacity and very loud - hard to carry on a conversation. Mia's Table management: add noise reduction panels! 2. The checkout/counter service process was weird. You're expected to tip at the cashier when you order and pay for your food before receiving service from the staff which brings me to #3. The service in the dining room was not good. From what we could tell, their role is to fill up your drink cups after you find a seat. Then someone from the kitchen brings your food. I had to get my own drink and get my own to-go box. No big deal as I'm perfectly capable of doing that myself - its just not clear what the service staff is there to do so I'm left feeling that my healthy tip at the cashier stand was for nothing. Their food though is really good and they have soft serve ice cream which was fun. Maybe ordering to-go is the thing to do at...
