After hearing such great reviews (via fb) about the food and service at Gauchos do Sul (in Katy), we wanted to give them a try. We are huge fans of Brazilian steakhouse and frequent Chama Gauche and Fogo (Houston) often so we were very excited to have a Brazilian steakhouse in Katy. We made reservations and were seated a few minutes after checking in. Our waiter, Freddy greeted us and brought us our drinks and bread. The bread wasnt wrapped in cloth so it was cold. The salad bar had jumbo cocktail shrimps, smoked salmon, and various salads and fixings. It was a good selection of items. We enjoyed the salad bar. After about 5 minutes of finishing our salad bar, someone cleared our plates and gave us new plates for the meats. My husband quickly changed his paper coaster to green to start on the meats. I decided to wait for the sides. A few servers with empty trays passed by us however no one stopped by. After about 12 minutes of waiting, Freddy came by and asked if we needed anything. I needed an ice tea refill and asked if we could get some sides to eat with our meats. By the time the sides arrived my husband already had a plate of meat. At least the Brazilian bread was warm this time, however the mashed potato was bland. My husband is a huge mashed potatoe fan and at chama he would get it refilled at least twice. At gauchos do Sul, he had 2 spoons and passed on the mashed potatoes bc it lacked salt. I enjoyed the fried polenta sticks tho. They were crispy and flavorful. There was a nice variety of meats however nothing stood out compared to the other Brazilian steakhouses. My husband was used to getting bombarded with the amount of people bringing various cuts of meats, but at Gauchos do Sul, it was a waiting game to see if someone was going to come by. We did see the guys with the grilled shrimp, chicken legs, sausage link and picahna often. However the other cuts (sirloin, lamb chop, beef rib, grilled cheese) passed by once. I asked for garlic beef and they said it would be 8 to 10 minutes. I said I would wait however after 15 minutes of waiting, I already had the servers clear my table. The garlic beef guy came by and apologized for the wait and asked if wanted a new plate. We were done by that time. The service at Gauchos do sul was poor. I understand it's only night 3 of opening and there are always things that needs time to tweak and improve. However there is no reason the table next to us were serviced and visited 5x before the same waiter, Freddy visited our table once. The table next to them, which arrived after us, were visited more than we were too. Keep in mind, the table next to us was less than 2 feet away. A little attention and consistency would have been nice Overall the food was just ok. I missed the variety of meats I find at Chama Gauche and Fogo and wished they had caramelized bananas. I missed the amazing and attentive service I receive at those steakhouses, as well.

Gauchos Do Sul Is a great place for those who love the gaucho style of service. I went at 4:20pm on a Sunday, shortly after opening, and was seated immediately. The place was not full, but most tables in the main dining hall were occupied throughout my meal. The selection from the salad bar was good, though their mozzarella did not taste like mozzarella (might've been a different style or something). The gauchos were plentiful and would bring meats every few seconds at the start of my meal. They cut the picanha thicker than I like, but that's a nit pick. Some meats were salty while others were perfect. The mashed potatoes were delicious and the Brazilian cheese bread was also delicious. They bring a bowl of 5 cheese breads once you get your salad, but they're not as quick as other places in replacing the bread once you've eaten them all. Other places replace your bread as soon as you take the last puff from the bowl, but this place did not. As a matter of fact, 20 minutes passed until I decided to ask for more bread, and more bread was brought not a minute later. A mocktail ran me $7, and the Brazilian lemonade (which I could not find on the menu) was also $7. The Brazilian lemonade has free refills at the time of this review, and they continually refill you before you even finish the drink. The room is dimly lit, so much so that you have a small lamp on your table to see your side dishes. This is not uncommon for this style of dining, but I prefer a brighter setting. Overall, enjoyable and delicious.

My boyfriend and I ate here during Houston Restaurant Week and we were both thoroughly impressed by the experience we had. The service provided by the staff at Gauchos Do Sul are second to none. I requested for both sparkling and still water and my glass never ran empty once because the staff was incredibly attentive to our needs/wants. To begin our dining experience, we were both asked how we wanted our cuts of meat to be prepared and were both provided with cuts cooked to perfection. In addition to the tender and delicious meat selection provided, you get the option to eat food from the salad bar. It’s almost insulting to call it a salad bar though, because it was stocked with fresh shrimp, candied bacon, lobster bisque, and a wide variety of vegetables and salads to choose from. The staff also provides you with a serving of fried polenta, loaded mashed potatoes, and the most heavenly brazilian cheese bread at your table to accompany your proteins. To end our night of meaty heaven, my boyfriend and I shared a decadent crème brûlée and warm churros paired with vanilla bean Häagen-Dazs. Looking back on it, my only regrets of the night are not getting the chance to try their grilled pineapple and eating too fast. Your dining experience at Guachos Do Sul should be savored so take your time trying everything. In short, I loved my night here and recommend it to anyone who loves meat. Chef’s Kiss 😚👌🏽

My family came here to celebrate a birthday, the food was great and the service was good (for the most part). My Mother and I are not big foodies or large portion eaters. However we got permission from the manager to eat off the bar menu while the rest of our party (5 others) had the all you can eat option. The five others had a great experience and enjoyed the variety offered, we sat and talked about what they liked the best and what they wanted more of. The food seemed to never end, they were very kind and happy to accommodate. Maria came over and talked with us for a bit as well as helped take care of us, which I much preferred her over our main server. Overall I'd say you could have a better experience elsewhere!

Our server was very short with us and seemed to be in a mood. I appreciate attentive servers but his attitude made it seem like we weren't going fast enough to his liking. I thought that it was just me who felt this way but 3 others said the same. His later comments throughout the night seem to show he did not enjoy serving us. When he saw that I only ate 2/4 lamb chops and my mom hadn't finished her plate either, he made some comments along the lines of "Is this really all you're going to eat?! This isn't enough" which we thought he was joking but it was a little pushy. Maria had come by a few times and I asked to see the dessert menu, I made a selection. The table gets to talking and our main waiter walks up to me and sternly asks if I had "already" ordered dessert. I answered that I had and he shot back aggressively "What did you get!?" It threw me off but I answered him and he walked off without saying anything. My family and I were taken aback but ended up laughing it off. I've never been spoken to that way before at a restaurant and if I had done that while in the restaurant industry, my managers would have written me up lmao. When I asked for another soda, he made another comment about how if I could drink a soda then I could eat more meat. I'm really not sure if this guy just lacks interpersonal skills or what but his "jokes" just continued to not land. The icing on top of his service has to be when my brother overheard him complaining to the manager about us. Saying that we're taking to long and everytime he comes over to ask us if we need anything we say we're fine. I thought this was supposed to be a sit down and enjoy type of place? From that point onward he continued to make annoyed faces at us when he thought we weren't looking. They closed at 9:30, this was around 8:40... If this guy is looking to turn and burn tables he's working at the wrong kind of restaurant not to mention we weren't even his last table. At the end of our dinner we could tell that they wanted us to get the f*ck out of their restaurant (around 9:15) and we headed towards the door. I don't think I would ever come back to this place. The only good things here are Maria and the...
