I've been living in Kearny for 3 years now and have being coming to this bakery since. I come here 1 or 2 a week. To get my breakfast. The service is slow but I like to support all the local shops in the area, and it's nice to sit by the window some mornings with my breakfast. I had a bad experience today that has turned me off to this place. I came in to order my breakfast to go, and there were 2 people in front of me, and later one man joined the line behind me. I notice one of the girls starts taking the order of the man behind me and starts preparing it. Even tho I had been waiting now several mins to order. The line clears in front of me, and no one is still taking my order. Then they proceed to take his coffee order, prepare it, and then he steps in front of me to pay. I ask why is he being served before me if I have been here before him and have being waiting for a while. She waves it off and says in Portugese to the man 'Don't worry about it, it's just espresso.' Meanwhile she had toasted a pastry for him and made him an espresso. Now, like I said, I've been coming to this Cafe for 3 years, and I'm sure this man has been coming for many years as well. But that is not the point. You should treat all customers, regardless of how long they've been coming with respect and courtesy. And whoever is in line first, should be given priority. Period. And because of that, I will not be returning. There are plenty of coffee shops in the area, I'll take nu business where it is...
Read moreSad to say this place has turned into a Circus. I have been going to this place for yrs, the previous owner and the staff were respectful, courteous, and accomodating, treated their customers with respect. I was at Arcos the other day and i witness their staff being disrespectful to a customer, including me, i waited 45 minutes for a sandwich and when i couldn't wait any longer i finally asked for my money back, only to be yelled by a 19 yr old who obviously was in need of attention and validation from the rest of the customers seating there. After she finally finished yelling at me, she ended up slamming my sandwich on the counter and said " Here, here is your sandwich, go" i have no respect for a business owner who has these uneducated people working for him. I also witness the owner throwing what he thought was a homeless man out of his establishment, until the poor guy said " i know i look dirty but i just got off work and my wife asked me to stop by to pick up bread. The owner still decided to show him to the door. I was astonished by...
Read moreBeen going here for years. Today was the worst experience. I asked for an ice coffee and the basically gave me iced milk. I asked for a new coffee the owner happened to be standing there and responded to me with an attitude and walked away rolling her eyes. The girl making the coffee proceeded with an attitude. Slamming things while fixing my coffee (not a new one bc the owner said not to throw it out) and yelling at me like it was my fault. And I was walking out she continued to yell at me and say next time you have to say how much milk. This is not my first time ordering a coffee there I have never had to tell them how much milk. Worst customer service. She is lucky she didn’t end up wearing my ice coffee. All she had to do was make a new one and shut her mouth. Especially since I asked nicely. They have lost a customer of 10+yrs. I am very shocked. I hope they don’t start treating everyone like this because they will lose customers and there are a lot of Portuguese bakery’s coming up in the area who are just as good....
