My husband and I decided to go to Copeland's for our anniversary. I checked the menu and prices online before we went. We have always liked the Spinach and Artichoke Dip Appetizer and I noticed it was half price for Happy Hour between 4 & 7 on weekdays. We arrived around 6 and we told the waitress we wanted that even before looking at the menu. After ordering the appetizer and trying to decide on the entree I noticed it said the prices for Happy Hour were only good if you ordered at the bar. I immediately questioned the waitress and she said that was correct and that this changed recently and the workers and customers were not happy. I told her that little detail was missing from the website and she said that was correct. It hadn't been updated yet. So I asked her if I were to walk over to the bar and order the same appetizer would I get it $7 cheaper (It is 13.99 normally)? She said yes but at this point I had already ordered and was very upset. She said would would send the manager over. The manager came and agreed with everything the waitress said. She claimed there was a meeting with the Corporate Office just that morning to ask them to reconsider and change the discounts to the whole restaurant but nothing came of the meeting. I went on and on and she said since it was our anniversary she would give us the appetizer half price. The appetizer in itself was disappointing. The fried pasta was soggy and tasted like old grease. Both of our entrees were way too salty, Crab cakes and Shrimp Alfredo and the Shrimp and Tasso Pasta. When the bill came my husband noticed the $7 was never taken off. We let it go but when leaving the restaurant we ran into the Manager. I told her she never adjusted the bill she said she had gotten sidetracked and forgot. All in all this was not a good experience and only getting Happy Hour prices at the bar is terrible!!!! Will not be going back there any time soon and will steer others from...
Read moreI was excited to go to Copeland's. I had only ever been to a Copeland's once before many years ago when it was in Charlotte, NC. The food was delicious and the live music added to the atmosphere for a wonderful experience. So the bar (my expectation) was set pretty high.
At Copeland's of New Orleans, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The wings on the appetizer section of the menu were pretty good - well seasoned with a nice kick. The Arnold Palmer (half sweet tea and half lemonade) was perfect. The onion strings were tasty. The shrimp from the shrimp sampler was cooked beautifully with exceptional flavor. The salmon was cooked nicely.
Everything else was meh at best. The remoulade sauce looked unappealing, tasted bland and detracted from the salmon which lacked seasoning itself. The Jambalaya pasta tasted like pepper. The pepper overpowered all the other ingredients except the shrimp which was rubbery and had a pugnant fishy taste. The texture of the andouille sausage was off. I can't explain it other than that; it was just off. The pasta was overcooked and immediately turned to mush when eaten.
And the booth was not clean. There were dried droplets of meals past on the wall and lamp at the booth where we were sitting. The table was clean, but the booth wall was not.
The servers were great, but the meals were underwhelming and the wall could use some attention. For the amount of money I spent for four people ($100), I expected all of the food to be amazing but it...
Read moreI had a disappointing experience at Copland’s in Kenner tonight. The food was fantastic; however, the waitress was not. My friend and I wanted to order dessert and where told since it was now after 9pm that no more could be added to our order. When we ask if we could take the dessert to go the waitress said no. There was a couple at the bar that had just ordered a dessert and had just started eating it. Therefore, my friend and I inquired as to why they where able to order dessert and not us. We where told by our server that they had ordered it before 9pm. The patrons sitting in the table in front of us where complaining about their steak. There server offered to take the steak back and brought them out a bowl of free biscuits to go. Additionally, we where only given a to go box for one of our items that we wanted to take home. Even though we had requested two. So, I had to put a spinach appetizer in the same box as a salad with no cup for the salad dressing. It ended up making a total mess and I was forced to throw everything in the trash. Money wasted. There where other little things as well that made this dining experience unpleasant, but the things mentioned above stood out the most. Lastly, my friend and I have made the decision not to go back to Copeland’s. Overall, we feel that we where lied to about not being able to order dessert since we where already sitting at a table eating. We could not even take it to go. Very disappointing experience to...
