I thought I was a picky eater until I ate here. Now I’ll admit, the menu was a little intimidating at first, however the friendly waitress was quick to recommend some of her favorites which immediately relieved my stress. We ended up ordering multiple things that I would have never thought I’d enjoy! The shrimp cocktail was such a pleasant surprise after shying away from seafood for years. The braised rabbit rigatoni was such a fun introduction to something I would have never considered ordering before. However what really stood out to me was the apple carrot triangoli. I have never enjoyed ANY pasta dish as much as I have this one (that should say a lot coming from a big Italian family). It is simply amazing to me to see what the chefs are able to dream up, and then execute it what seems to be such an effortless way. Some may say it’s more complicated than that, but I disagree. I think that for most chefs it would be a bit of a challenge to think of such simple yet intricate dishes and then have the courage to not only place them on a menu, but also execute them in a flawless manner every single time. I don’t think they have that issue at Sweet Amelia’s. I think chefs Karessa and Zack have so much passion for cooking, and love for their guests, that anything they make could be the best dish I’ve ever had. I will be returning and I will not be afraid to try a single thing on the menu...

My family and I were staying in Kennett Square, PA for the first time for work and we stumbled upon this place (not really— EVERY single person we spoke to said we absolutely had to come here) and decided to try it.

As we walked up to the restaurant, a man was leaving after his meal and told us not to be intimidated by the menu, as he didn’t recognize most of the ingredients listed. He said he was skeptical at first, but it turned out to be the best food he’s ever had. Needless to say, we had pretty high expectations given the hype.

We sat down and a man seated behind us explained that he ate there once a day minimum and that we were in for a treat as it’s the most unique food he’s ever experienced, hyping it further.

We ordered a bunch of different plates (the menu is seasonal) and I’m not even exaggerating when I say it was the most incredible meal I’ve ever had. Every flavor was spot on— I ate foods I thought I’d never even consider eating. It not only lived up to the hype, it exceeded the hype ten-fold.

Everyone was extremely friendly and our server was especially kind. The menu is very elevated, but the atmosphere and service are completely unpretentious. I’ll be dreaming of this restaurant until next year...

We stopped in Saturday at lunchtime on our way to the Brandywine Museum of Art for a snack/light lunch. We liked that the menu wasn’t just another boring average also-ran (horse racing reference). Everything was either unique, or had a unique twist. The crispy chicken skin tea sandwich had me at hello. Light (at least it seemed), tasty, ultra thin green tomato slice to give just the right bite, and a peri peri dipping sauce to die for. My berry lemonade was great, and had several mixed berries to harpoon with my straw. My wife had the parfait and loved the assortment and ripeness of the fruit. I also tried the red grits, ham gravy and greens brunch item. Although I didn’t have the room for such a heavy meal, what I was able to finish was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and personable, and the chef even stopped at our table to introduce herself and chat. We definitely plan to return soon. Great way to...

DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS AMAZING NEW RESTAURANT IN KSQ. Looking for a quick lunch after Longwood Gardens, the universe brought us to Sweet Amelia’s. The vegetable-forward menu caught my eye (as a vegetarian, I’ve come to accept that not every restaurant is veg-friendly. Luckily I really love hummus platters!), but the TASTE of each plate stopped me in tracks. I only had the presence of mind to capture a photo of the bbq oyster mushroom gyro (THAT TZATZIKI THO šŸ˜), but we had the pleasure of also tasting the togarashi potatoes, romanesco squash. Possibly my favorite dish was the carrot skordalia - whose bright flavor surprised me so much I had to get more information. Chef Zack took time out of his kitchen prep to field our over-eager questions (and wax poetic about the local food scene). I love when life takes you on delightful and unexpected culinary adventures! We are already planning a second trip.

Lovely atmosphere and wonderful service. 3/4 of our dishes were very tasty, but one was not. Also I'd say the prices are high. Of the starters, the falafel was delicious. Definite winner. The tempura silverfish (similar to fried calamari) was also tasty. Wine service was good for a small restaurant, with my partner offered the chance to taste before making a selection. Appreciated. The main course of Halibut was very good and cooked perfectly, too. The lamb? Well, it wasn't lamb. Physically, the bone was way too large. This was mutton. I have eaten lamb for decades and the musky taste and tougher, more greasy nature of this meat clearly came from an adult sheep. Probably a male sheep. This was disappointing. The accompanying root vegetables were appropriate and tasty. The rice was clumpy though. Sadly, that one dish of, figuratively, mutton dressed up as lamb, was a disappointment.
