Sometimes, things are so hyped up that you convince yourself to take a 45 minute detour from the place you're already late for, just so you can get lunch at this place you've been seeing on Instagram CONSTANTLY. That's what I did with this Filipino joint that primarily operates as a food truck. I have a love/hate relationship with food trucks. They're super cute and convenient, but sometimes the schedule they post on social media is inaccurate or they run out of fries just before you get there. So I pulled up to their brick and mortar establishment instead. Lengthy research on Yelp left me confident that a chicken adobo garlic rice bowl was a solid choice. I was expecting an explosion of flavors, but I was left underwhelmed. I had to douse a generous helping of sriracha over my plate just to feel something. The calamansi juice was actually a freaking revelation and I'm forever grateful to this place for introducing me to my new favorite citrus fruit. It was the only thing that quelled my internal regret as a sat alone in the restaurant, earplugs in my ears, Netflix...
Read moreThe items on the menu sounded promising but the quality wasn't there. I really wanted to like this place. Maybe it was an off day. I tried the Adobo moco, sisig rice bowl, Lechon kawali with garlic rice, and ube maldasadas.
Adobo moco was ok. Did not wow me. I don't know how else to describe it.
Sisig rice bowl we only took a couple bites. The flavors were blah and we didn't want to finish the dish. I hate wasting food but it just wasn't good.
The garlic rice tasted like raw garlic and was bitter.
Lechon kawali again was ok but not enjoyable to eat.
Ube maldasadas. Is far from being a maldasada. And it's not stuffed with very much ube filling. It wasn't a maldasada but it tasted good.
Bottom line not good enough for me to refer to others. I felt I over paid for our food. The quality could improve. I love supporting local food but I just wasn't impressed and pretty disappointed. I hope they can make some adjustments and improve because I think they have a really impressive and tasty sounding menu. Sorry but im being honest about my...
Read moreThe food we ordered was really tasty. We ordered the garlic chicken, and the adobo Moco to start. The adobo Moco differs from the usual dish by not serving a beef patty and brown gravy. Instead, they use an adobo sauce for gravy and pieces of fried chicken for the protein. It's very creative and tasty. After that we got the ube waffle dessert. It's an ice waffle with ube ice cream ala mode with Halo Halo on top. It's a great dessert! The only reason I didn't give this place a full score is that the tables were dirty and they don't seem to know how to run a sit down restaurant effectively. Namely the wall scribbles is pretty tacky and the tables should be more spaced out. It would have been nice to have someone to take our order instead of having to go back and order food up front. Also concerning is the amount of waste generated by using disposable tins instead of actual plates for dine in customers. I wonder if they consider that to their...
