It was my first time here on Aug 15 and neither the two owners nor the cook were wearing masks. Neither were the owner's two kids who were hanging out at a table nor some random man sitting in the corner (he didn't seem like a customer cause he wasn't eating or waiting for food). I asked the owner why no masks and he said they weren't needed because they have a glass barrier at the register. I said what about the cook, isn't it the law? He got defensive and said "Well it's over 100 degrees by the grill, you wouldn't want to wear a mask, and no it's not the law, I only have to wear a mask if I step outside." I asked in a nice way so his hostile tone was uncalled for. Also what he said doesn't really make sense and after googling, I don't think that's the law, but ok, this is America, I think it should be their right to run their business how they want. I will exercise my right though to post a review and let others know that masks aren't worn here so people can decide for themselves in advance whether to come or not. As far as the food, I ordered the twice cooked pork which was decent but certainly Americanized as it was highly sweetened which I'm pretty sure is not how the authentic recipe is made. 4 stars for the food less 2 stars for the lack of masks and unpleasant owner. I know it's a difficult time for restaurants and the owners seemed a bit on edge even before I brought up the mask issue so I do sympathize, but I still do want to leave this review in case it's...
Read moreunfortunately after eating here three times and having awful food I have to post.
I came here once a few weeks ago and got pot stickers. They were delicious.
Then within the past two weeks I ordered to go twice. Potstickers, Sweet and Sour chicken, and orange Chicken. the rice was bland...the sweet and sour chicken had huge chunks of uncooked vegetables on top of soggy breaded chicken with hardly any sauce. the orange chicken tasted HORRIBLE. I am not a picky eater but the flavor was so off. no orange flavor at all. tasted like straight cooking oil. and how can you mess up potstickers...they were burnt fried and did not have hardly any filling inside them. like a huge ball of fried dough with no flavor. I dont know if its a different cook from. the first time I came here or what. But after wasting 40$ on 1 meal and a couple appetizers 2x sad to say I will not be returning. They need to reevaluate their menu and find someone that knows what they are doing in the kitchen. Rarely do I complain about food. But this was too much. My partner who eats almost anything also had to push the plate away. I wish I had...
Read moreThe food here is really good. I can't state that enough. When you see a line of people out the door to either order, or take out, that's really what you need to know. The freshness of this is different than sushi and in a much better way than a lot of local sushi. The flavor is incredibly fresh and the profiles they add to the poke are thoughtfully dinner. The egg drop soup is the best I can recall having. The rice had light seasoning but was prepared perfectly sticky. The wonton soup had broth that was closer to a lite bulgogi sauce. Little touches like seasoning on the rice or the fresh herbs on each dish, vinegar dipping sauce with pepper sauce blends in it are what really help the freshness stand out. I heard a story that the owner flies to Hawaii every year and catches every fish they serve, freezes the fish and then they are sent back to the restaurant, and this is why it tastes so fresh. Now, the person who told me, is known there by their first name. I'd venture to say it's true, because when food is this fresh, it's...
