The place just opened up a couple weeks ago and I was looking forward to trying it. I happened to walk by the day they opened and grabbed a menu to take home.
When I arrived to eat, I discovered about 1/4 to 1/3 of the original menu had been removed. Understandable as the new restaurant learns what works and what doesn’t and streamline operations.
This evening the restaurant was out of printed menus, so I took photos of the one taped to the counter so I could sit at a table to decide. I ordered guacamole with plantain chips to snack on. The portion of guacamole was generous and tasty. There were only about 8 plantain chips served with it, sticking out of the guacamole, so I had to ask for more chips and even then there was guac left over.
After the guacamole, between the adults and children in our party, we ordered a poke bowl, a couple of sushi rolls and a poke bowl split between two kids. The staff was very accommodating in separating the kids poke bowl into two bowls so as to avoid the kids having to eat out of the same bowl (that would have not gone over well) and only including the very specific kid-approved toppings that we requested on the rice.
The food took quite a while to arrive, maybe 25-30 minutes, which was surprising because the restaurant was not that busy. A long wait with hungry kids = 😬😬😬
Sushi was fresh and well prepared. Poke bowl was decent. The Italian rainbow cookies we got for dessert were delicious.
I think I’d go back again in a few weeks when they’ve refined their...
Read moreI was going to the candy store down the street and saw this place passing by. Had to get a few things and then I stopped here out of curiosity.
And I must say, this blows JP Giffords out of the water by a long shot. This restaurant is both American and Asian. There's burgers, main dishes, sandwiches, salads and snacks as well as ramen, sushi and my favorite- POKE. The best of both worlds, all in one!
I had the kent burger and the steak and fritz. Perfect medium rare cook, but the burger was a tad rarer than I would have liked but it's such a small complaint. Those and the drinks came to a total of $52. It's pricey but you're in kent, so expect the prices to be on the higher side. Friendly staff and very welcoming environment. Im excited to return after my hikes from macedonia Park or whenever I go down to the candy store. This was a wonderful experience! I hope you guys stick around for a long time!
Update #1: came back for the poke and sushi and DID N O T disappoint! I usually like my poke full and lots of crispy toppings but everything went so well together that I didn't really need them. It was perfectly balanced. However on the receipt the hamachi was an additional $6 charge that slightly irked me as I was under the impression that the fish choices were included in the price. Miniscule complaint though as I still enjoyed it.
Sushi was amazing, extremely fresh! Portions could be larger to compensate for the price. These are all small, fixable complaints.
I will...
Read moreThe food is Amazing! I took my family there for my daughter's birthday, my wife had the shrimp puttanesca, my daughter had the poke bowl, and just to say she is a small eater and she ate almost the whole bowl, my other daughter had the chicken quesadilla and the guacamole dip which we all shared along with crispy rice tuna. I had the steak Frites and I must say that steak was cut with a butter knife, it just melted in your mouth. I also ordered the shishitos peppers and calabrian chili fries which were scrumptious. for drinks we had the fun boba teas which hit the spot. we cannot wait to go back. This is all due to the wonderful Chef Alberto and Chef Suko....
