BEST CUP OF COFFEE IN KERRVILLE!!! I've been on quest to find the best coffee - just a plain 'ol cup of Joe - whenever I've taken my kid to an early work shift. It's been a difficult journey, as what's most popular now are coffee drinks made from espresso. A cup of coffee is now called "drip coffee," which my coffee simpleton self needed to learn (one "coffee" drive-thru place laughed at me when I ordered a cup of coffee, as they don't even serve it). Blue Roan drip coffee rates among the best I've ever had. To me, the best "test" is plain black coffee: the initial smell then taste, the palate's response and degree of strength/acidity, but just as important (if not more) is the aftertaste... IMO, a decent cup may be initially good, but as it cools and as the end nears, how sour does it become? Blue Roan coffee was "good to the last drop!" FINALLY, there's GREAT COFFEE in Kerrville! Please give Blue Roan a try: (selfishly) I'd like them to be around for a good long while, so give em the patronage and join me in their support - I hope everyone enjoys them as much as I do!
My order: 20 oz drip coffee, $2.97 incl tax...
Read moreMy review is based only on their bagged whole-bean coffee, no food, snacks, or prepared coffee. I've been looking for a coffee roaster in Kerrville and had high hopes. I love the little shop and the service, but they do NOT have anything remotely approaching a dark roast. I've tried both their espresso beans and their "dark roast" beans... both are more like a blond roast, not even what I would call "medium." The beans are clearly high quality, but like all blonde roasts its bitter and acidic, not smoky and mellow like a true dark roast. In the attached picture, Blue Roan's "dark" roast is on the top, and my preferred Italian roast is on the bottom. Note the complete lack of any oil "sweating" from the beans in addition to the very light color. If you like bitter blonde roast coffee, this is for you. If you like French or Italian roasts... join me in my...

Food: love that the coffee is organic and the syrups made from scratch. The baked goods were flavorfull and satisfying. Its the one place in town I can treat my kids without worrying about junk!
Service: these people know coffee and know what they are doing and it's cool to see how the staff work together to produce such a great experience. Every time I'm in there everyone seems to be enjoying themselves - customers and baristas.
