I never do this type of complaining especially since I have been in the service industry for over 10 years. So I will start with something positive. Lakehouse is a really cool location and the atmosphere inside is quite inviting and pleasant.
We were sat down at a table that was cramped but it was moved to fit us in, though the old man next to us seemed quite uncomfortable with it. Our waitress, Mattie, didn't introduce herself luckily her name was on the receipt. She grabbed our waters and asked if we were ready to order, we weren't and she literally turned to a table to check on them and turned back in 3 seconds asking for our order. No joke 2 or 3 seconds, no joke no exaggeration. Anyway I ordered what was called the south west chicken wrap with fries and my mom got the chicken fried steak with a baked potato.
The food came out after about 20 minutes. My mother's baked potato came out with completely melted semi burnt butter that made it quite funny to watch her try to manage, dripping everywhere Including on her person. She said that her fried steak was cold and she was having trouble with the gravy. Now one person's taste can change person to person but cold food is cold food. She took a total of maybe three or four bites. Pushed aside plate, the universal symbol of done.
My wrap was the smallest skinniest wrap I have ever seen. It wasn't a small tortilla it just didn't have anything in it. I chose grilled chicken because I didn't want something greasy, but it was dripping wet with grease. My fries were flimsy and cold and I couldn't do it. Again some of this could be preference, but I don't like cold food and greasy grilled chicken. I pushed away my plate, the universal symbol for done.
The thing that really gets me is that my server Mattie D, never asked if the experience was okay and it should have been alarming to see 2 full plates pushed aside after 5 minutes of having them. She just grabbed the plates and took off which was annoying because we really wanted to be on separate tickets but someone else had to begrudgingly do so.
The restaurant world is a helluva lot more difficult than most people realize. So many variables could and do often go wrong at once. People have really bad days as well and I get that, but the fact that Maddie didn't care to ask and I couldn't see a manager to help made ME have a bad day. As a server I'm telling you there is maybe a 1% chance that Maddie didn't realize that the plates were full and the waters empty after five minutes and pushed aside (alarms should be going off). I am not really sure if this represents what this restaurant is like and if the owners stand behind this experience so be it. I would way rather write a great review. I enjoy being happy.
Hope the best for everyone. I hope this review only yields...
Read more4/12/2025 1:30pm. Saturday Stopped here on our way to visiting the Wyndham resort in Hunt. As always, we 1st pull up the yelp reviews and saw that it was 4.5 stars. I said to my wife, “this should be a good place to eat.” Bottom Line It was!
Food: OFF the back page ( small plates) we ordered 1 Catfish plate and 1 shrimp plate and then shared. (Very reasonable pricing LOTS of food ! ) Catfish was so good I enjoyed it as is. It didn’t need Tatar Sauce or Cocktail Sauce. It was that good. Shrimp was also very good. 1/2 order of Onion Rings - Huge ! ( Cocktail sauce is very good. I suspect it’s made on site. - could be wrong )
Wait Staff ; we had a very helpful and attentive waiter. Not annoying, but just right. I stopped and talked with the on duty manager. A young guy like 28. I frequently visit with the MGR to give them a heads up on a coming review. Interesting note this manager I witness bussing a table when we first came in. It’s nice to see management jumping in to help when needed.
I will agree with the reviewer Garcia. The gal at the cash register ( we cashed out with our waiter ) was totally disengaged with the business, but was locked in on that phone in her hands. I’m sure she didn’t see us come or go. Why do workers need a phone at work?. They are “supposed” to be WORKING!! A systemic problem with today’s youth.
In conclusion, great place to eat, great wait staff, great value, overall...
Read moreI was excited to try this place out. I was really disappointed by the end. First I want to say the staff are sweet and nice. The view was why I gave it three stars not two. The food had its ups and downs but very disappointed considering the cost. I had the Southwest Wrap with regular ranch (cant handle the spicy). I received a small taco cut in half. There was breading and a lot of lettuce but hardly any actual chicken in what they called a wrap. I have had a wrap and it is usually the size of a good burrito. This was barely the size of a teaspoon and soggy fries. My husband had shrimp tacos. Now he said the flavor for the shrimp was really good but it was overcast by the puddle of slaw. The slaw was so wet and runny it made everything soggy. The salsa for the side had no flavor and tasted like it was out of a jar. Maybe we should have just gotten their specialty of catfish. For the soda price of 2.29 make sure you get at least two glasses. We may try again to see if it was an off night but the flavor was like we were in a...
