The Boat — Restaurant in Kerrville

I have never eaten here before and really didn't know that they served food. I always thought it was just a bar. I did visit the bar twice before to have a quick shot of JD while my clothes were being washed next door at the laundromat. The second time I noticed that there were tables for dining in. When we were looking online for a place to go eat out at The Boat was an option. I mentioned that I haven't eaten there but when I visited the bar before I noticed tables. I gave away my little secret to my husband when I said that. The place is a Port Aransas themed bar/restaurant with various black & white photos on the wall along with various objects, and big screen TV's to keep yourself entertained while waiting for the food. Our server was a young girl that got a little freaky with her appearance that day(blue/aqua hair and makeup). She was nice but also a busy bee that night. It ended up being an alright serves experience BUT my Grilled Chicken Sandwich was THE BEST CHICKEN SANDWICH I HAVE EVER EATEN BEFORE.!!! I have had a ton of Grilled chicken sandwiches before but none of them tasted like the one I had last night. KUDOS TO THE CHEF AT "THE BOAT" on Friday the 9th of July, 2021. My husband's burger wasn't as good. It was karaoke night and it must be the hangout for the young drinkers; they were everywhere! July 11, 2022 It's 7/11 our special day; Heather and I are having dinner at The Boat in Kerrville; first time for Heather. I told her even though it's a bar u can go because they serve food plus u r with your mom. The place was quite, just a couple of tables were occupied, and there was football on the telly. We sat at a small table with high chairs for 2. The server was adorable, she knew her stuff, and did a great job taking care of us on our special night. The burgers that we ordered were tremendous and tasty. I had "The Naked Cowboy", AND OMGosh it was Freaking Amazing. If u stop by there order it, u won't be disappointed. Plus it has a fantastic name to mess with your man with. 😆. Thanks Boat And my daughter has already asked to go back there. Maybe in a couple of months OCTOBER 11th is her 21st Birthday!!! 9/13/25 I wanted to go to a place that was an up beat atmosphere so The Boat was it. I was by myself, arrived, went inside asked a server if I could sit anywhere and she said yes anywhere. I picked a table and sat down. I sat myself and had not one person acknowledge me in at least 5 minutes. When you are by yourself, looking around like I'm lost, waiting, watching servers go back and forth in front of me looking after their tables, 5 minutes is a long time. So I got my own ass up and walked out. It blows my mind how people can obtain a job that aquires them to meet and greet customers but will watch them sit and wait until they walk out unhappy....

I urge you not to go here unless you like being treated like trash.

We walked in, Bachelorette party of 9. Half of us seated ourselves while the other half went to the bar to order a round of shots. Immediately the bartender with curly hair and tattoos on her hands was rude and annoyed that we were ordering drinks (like, how dare we). She demanded IDs, we obliged, we ordered a round of shots for our group and she demanded that everyone getting a drink come up to the bar for ID inspection before pouring the shots. The girls that were going to drink came up to the bar while the 3 that weren't, remained seated.

I ordered three shots for the half of the girls that was already at the bar and took them to the table. Another one of us bought a 3 more shots for our remaining drinkers and thats when she blew a gasket saying, "okay so where are the shots I just served, why were they taken to the table, who are they for?" She abruptly stopped her questioning and went to our table to demand IDs of the rest of the girls who were not even drinking, we were simply trying to set our table up!

She was condescending when she returned saying "oh its all legality, y'all are chill, we get in trouble all of the time".

Why not ID at the entrance then? Why would anyone treat paying customers this way, especially as someone who depends on tips? We were in so much shock! We are from put of town, came in fully willing to tip and spend money but she did herself, and this business, a huge disservice by being rude! In addition to shots, a few of our drinking girls ordered drinks which were all triple sec or margarita mix.

As we sat there with our inferior drinks, we noticed a women straddling a table. Apparently that's acceptable behavior for at this establishment but God forbid you order a drink. We later took our business to another bar and they recommended that we not go to The Boat. The owner should be embarrassed that their establishment is renound for this type of service.

Her customer service and bartending skills were atrocious...

Everything was fine at first. Got our drinks, got our order in.

There were maybe three tables including us. There are was a big party - they had their food and were almost done eating. Their children were up and running around. There was an older couple who were also eating.

My mother's food came out - we were told ours would be out shortly after. I was sharing with my friend - we got shrimp platter with a salad (salad wasn't even brought out.) Our other friend got a shrimp kids meal

Soon my mom found three crawfish that when she opened them to eat they were black and smelled awful. Three. The waitress took them back and nothing.

An hour later we (my friends and myself) still do not have our food. At this point 4 tables and everyone at the bar have food. Fried food, fried shrimp, oysters, crab legs, etc. And still we do not have our food.

When we said something the waitress said "I didn't take your order" ... What does that matter? I saw them checking their computers. They looked at the tables. We were also told "I can't control what the kitchen does and we have a new cook + the owner back there and we just had a big table of 10 and we're cooking that!" (Please reread where I stated they were done when we walked in.)

Ok cool. I can deal with a new cook, I can deal if they had been busy. We were one table who didn't have FOOD. The other two HAD food. Every other table who walked in after us were getting their food before us.

We eventually had to leave (after they did give us the salad with the wrong dressing) and when we started one of us has to go back to work we were pretty much blamed with "oh. This isn't the place to go when you have to go back to work".

I'm sorry, what? We walked in and y'all weren't busy. You guys got everyone else's food out who walked in AFTER us. And you served my mother rotten crawfish.
