POSITIVE UPDATE BELOW INITIAL REVIEW
I usually love this place but the past two times have been an absolute fail. I went Friday Mar 2nd around 630 to get some food and watch the Ohio State Bball team play Penn State with my fiancée and friend. After some time, the very confused looking unorganized hostess boys got us seated. I had to ask 4 or 5 staff to change the channel and each said they'd do it but never did. Plus we waited over 20 minutes and still had no waiter/waitress. Literally waiters and waitresses walking past us and nobody did anything. We had to ask a waitress who said "Youre not my table but I can get drinks for you" She got 2 of our drinks and had to wait another 10 minutes for the 3rd (which was wrong) She vanished for a good 10 minutes and I had to go find her so we could asked her if we can get an appetizer. She took our order and appetizer. 4 different people brought it out at various times. Weird unorganized experience that only happens once right? No.
Saturday March 24th, we tried again around the same time. Same kids working the hostess stand, some standing around, some lethargic. We got seated and yet again nobody waited on us for 15 minutes (timed by my fiancée as a joke which turned out not so funny). Our friend Jessica, who is a waitress there, recognized us, confused why nobody waited on us yet and became our waitress. Jessica was great and did her job perfectly even though we were not in her section. Everything was fine after that until my fiancée got the salmon which she described as too rubbery. She eats a lot of salmon so I took her word for it that it was not good.
I'm not sure if we'll be back. Which is a shame because they used to have good days.
UPDATE!
The manager worked well by communicating with me about the issues I had. I went back there Friday at 7 immediately noticed a complete 180 from my last visit. We were seated quicker, had a waitress in less than 5 minutes, and had very friendly service. (They didn't know I was the one with a bad review.) The food was excellent. (Pizza, wings, burgers). The manager came by to our table and nearby tables making sure everyone was having a good experience. There was a lot more energy present by the waiters and front desk. I can definitely tell the manager had a good talk with the employees and completely upgraded their service. I am definitely coming back to get their wings and beer. And I'm so happy this place changed for the better. My first review was a two star. I'm giving them 5 star. Outstanding job by...
Read moreOur lunch today consisted of pretzel bites, salmon for my wife, fish and chips for me.
The pretzel bites had a surprisingly soft, dinner roll type texture and the cheese sause gave a great smokey flavor. They were however too salty for my wife's taste
My wife had salmon served with rice and broccoli. The broccoli was steamed and not seasoned. She did enjoy the salmon and rice greatly (she is hard to impress).
My fish came with fresh cut fries and Kentucky coleslaw. The fish I believe was frozen battered fish (not batrer fried in the restaurant) . For a frozen white fish it tasted just fine without the fishy taste that often comes with that. The fries were crispy outside and soft center. The salt gave them a nice flavor, but again my wife thought they were too salty. The Kentucky slaw had a vinegar dressing without mayonnaise.
We also got bread pudding for desert. If you go here, go hungry so that you can enjoy this. The pudding is a warmed bread pudding made with bills doughnuts and a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream .
The restaurant was clean and had a nice decore. It was quiet but we also eat at 2:00 and there were only 5-6 tables occupied. My wife went to the restroom (ladies) and upon leaving, the sign on the inside part if the door said "mens" . She said she was confused at first then found the humor in the rouse.
The team work among the staff was great. A server, not ours, greeted us with a drink order. Another person ran our entrees to us. The server who took our original drink order ran desert for us. Our server was friendly and ensured we were satisfied with our dinner
Food was great. Even my picky wife enjoyed it. Portions were larger than most. The place was clean and comfortable . We will cone back and recommend to our friends that live...
Read moreWell, all I can really describe about the place is the waiting area. We were told a 10 minute wait when we arrived. I called ahead, not to reserve seats, merely as a courtesy that a party of 9 was coming in for dinner.
We arrived at 5:25pm. It is now 6:20 and I'm still standing in the waiting area. Food smells good though.
*Updated - got a seat and a water at 6:31. It's so incredibly loud in here that it is impossible to have a conversation. You just end up yelling at each other. Also just discovered that there is another Archer's in Centerville. That's probably the one people are rating well because there is no way this would be an enjoyable date spot or place for family to gather.
*Update 2: ordered food at 6:41 and the food arrived at 6:58. One hamburger, chicken wrap, bowl of chili, chicken noodle soup, blackened salmon, Reuben sandwich and chicken fingers. Food is good. Nothing special. Not worth a 10 minute wait much less an hour wait.
Overall I'd say this place rates a big "meh".
*Update 3 - lol, this is literally becoming comical. It has been 20-ish minutes since our food has been gone and we are wanting to pay and leave. They won't bring our check! I'm sure they are just disorganized and having problems back there well.
*Last update - We made our escape at 7:48. Since we were there for my father-in-law's birthday they brought out a brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. A nice gesture, but he is insulin dependent! The rest of the table enjoyed it, but I wish they would have asked him first if he...
