If you’re looking for some quick and delicious down south-style barbecue, I would highly recommend City BBQ. Arriving on a sunny Sunday around 5:20 pm, I pulled into a well-maintained parking lot with the sight of patio furniture and umbrellas providing shade.

With easy parking and even a drive-thru available, I walked in and was greeted with smiles immediately. You can see the LED menu and a full staff working behind the counter in different stations. After carefully searching the menu and asking plenty of questions, I decided on ribs, collard greens, corn pudding, and a pulled chicken sandwich.

I had never been to this restaurant before, and after my many questions, a manager named Nathan took notice and offered samples to help me make my decision, which I thought was impressive. I sat down at a high-topped table, very clean, and was able to observe the drink station and barbecue sauce station to set me up before my food came. I opted for the sweet tea and lemonade mixed, which was absolutely delicious, and some extra original sauce. By the time I returned with my drink, my food was meeting me there as well, with the manager Nathan dropping off the food and making sure I was all set before carrying on to help behind the counter—once again, impressive and attentive.

After a quick prayer and a glance over my food, I dug right into the collard greens with pork. They had a small kick of acidity and weren’t too salty. The ribs were falling off the bone with smokiness and a light glaze. The corn pudding was warm, sweet, with plenty of corn, and the chicken sandwich was soft and tangy with a delicate sauce mixed in with the pulled chicken.

Price: $27.50

No complaints here, and I'm actually excited to...

My workplace placed and online order today at City BBQ for curbside pickup. We were told that it would be ready by 1:15pm. When I arrived my office notified the restaurant that I was there to pick up our curbside order per their instructions. No one ever came out. I called my office back and let them know I was still waiting. The office manager called them to remind them that we were there for our pick up order and no one had come out yet. They said someone would be right out. Fast forward another 15 minutes. I called my office back still no one had come out. After another 15 minutes someone finally came out with our food and stated that they did not know that I was there. I told her that my office manager checked in when I arrived and had called two times since I had been waiting. They gave us two pieces of cake and coupons for two free sandwiches. (The order was for seven people) Then when I asked where the drinks were she said, I did not know you had drinks so she had to go back in again to get those. When she came back out she said next time just go through the drive thru with this big of an order anybody can go through the drive thru. City BBQ you really need to communicate to your customers and employees the same information. If you no longer offer curb side pickup then just say so. Had it been busy maybe I could understand. It was after lunch hour and only four cars in the lot. Just no customer...

Went to a soft opening today for City Barbecue in Kettering in their new location across from Delco Park. They had a limited menu but we were treated to a wonderful meal. They will have their full menu on opening day.

We chose brisket and pork sandwiches with Mac and cheese, corn pudding, baked beans and hush puppies as sides. Also soft drinks. They treated us with banana cream pudding as a dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious.

Service was fast. The front ordering was quick, food came out fast and hot. The remodel, which I had my concerns about as it was a rapid fired pizza previously, was absolutely amazing. There is SO much room inside this little building! I am impressed! Kudos to your designer!

They have a nice patio area which will definitely get use in the warm months and a great drive through for those just wanting to get their bbq to go without having to go in the place.

I really foresee this place doing very well in the warm months next to Delco Park, especially for those wanting to pick up picnic food. But this is going to be a great addition to the neighborhood in general.

Nice job, City Barbecue. Thanks for...

Update 03-28-2025 The new fries are garbage. If we collectively cease to buy the new fries maybe they'll bring back the fresh cut fries. Had the pulled pork sandwich again. Had a whole lot of fatty gristle. Same thing every time now. New normal? I had family visiting from out of country and they wanted to try City BBQ. They were not impressed. Said they had better BBQ in Canada. That says a lot. I used to love City BBQ. Not anymore. Always disappointed now. (Year old review) Food has gone downhill. Last 5 times I've eaten at City BBQ the pulled pork isn't really pulled and it has tons of squishy nasty fat. So gross. At least 1/4 of the "meat" isn't meat or edible. And the portions have decreased while prices go up. Shrinkflation at its worst. Very disappointed in my favourite BBQ chain.
