Went here recently while staying at Sunset Cove Resort next door. Yes, the view is beautiful, but the food was... ghastly (say that in your best Hugh Grant impersonation). Ghastly!

We should have done more research. We should have asked the other, friendly guests who seemed to be regular visitors to the resort. But it was our first visit to Key Largo, we already had had a few drinks staring out over the ocean at Sunset Cove, and Bayside Grille was right next door, yards away from where we were lounging. The online menu pics looked delectable. Yes, we're old enough and should have been less gullible.

Service was a tad inattentive, but once we gained attention, it was warm and friendly. All good.

Ordered the Captain Morgan ribs to share: a full rack of baby back ribs, which, according to the menu, comes with "beer battered potato curls" and coleslaw. $32

We got: No potato curls, no beer batter, just regular fries. But we were hungry and decided to tuck in. My god. My partner had one mouthful of the coleslaw and pronounced that it was "disgusting." I had two mouthfuls and, yeah, it was, strangely, oily and hardly tangy, except for the tang one tastes in old, inadvertently fermenting cabbage.

The ribs were dry and tough (and the portion was small).

But the worst were the fries. They tasted like they were recycled - everybody knows the taste of old fries that have been reheated. Did they scrape this off someone else's plate earlier in the day and reheat it?

We asked our waiter for fresh fries and he didn't bat an eyelid; instead, he gave us a wry smile, as if he wasn't surprised... as if he had just won a bet with the kitchen. An "I told you so" victory for him.

He brings us the fresh fries and, lo and behold, they're disks of puffy, freshly fried potato. They're better than the regular fries, but what's weird is that they look like they've been cut from new/ baby potatoes. What the hell was going on in that kitchen? And where's the beer batter?

Needless to say, avoid at all costs, unless you're just having a sundowner. For us, though, the sunset didn't lighten our sense of having...

My recent visit to Bayside Grille & Sunset Bar in Key Largo, Florida, left me thoroughly impressed, thanks in part to the exceptional cleanliness and the mouthwatering starters we had the pleasure of enjoying.

First and foremost, I must commend the restaurant for its impeccable cleanliness. The entire dining area and surroundings were impeccably maintained, and it was evident that they prioritize creating a pristine and inviting environment. This commitment to cleanliness greatly enhanced our overall dining experience.

The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the starters. We decided to explore this part of the menu, and we were delighted with our choices. The starters were a delightful revelation, showcasing Bayside Grille's dedication to offering flavorful and satisfying options to kick off the meal. I had the pleasure of trying the Coconut Shrimp, and it was a delectable treat. The shrimp were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a delightful coconut crust that added a tropical twist to each bite. My dining companions also savored their starter selections, each dish exemplifying Bayside Grille's commitment to serving top-notch appetizers.

Bayside Grille & Sunset Bar truly excels in crafting starters that not only please the palate but also reflect their dedication to using quality ingredients and culinary finesse.

The restaurant's ambiance was relaxed and had a tropical, waterfront feel, making it an ideal setting for savoring delicious starters while enjoying the picturesque views. Prices were reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes of the starters, ensuring a truly satisfying and budget-friendly dining experience.

For those in Key Largo seeking a spot with exceptional cleanliness and delectable starters to start their culinary journey, Bayside Grille & Sunset Bar is a must-visit. Their starters are undeniably delicious, and the restaurant's dedication to cleanliness ensures a pleasant and safe dining...

EDIT: after restaurant reply - YES we spoke to the sever hence the $5 discount for our inconvenience - no manager came to speak with us - we simply ordered the kids chicken meal, whatever you call it was over fried and had a bone in one of the few pieces - my son found it disgusting and didn’t eat it - I stand by my review and do not recommend this establishment - and its not the only negative review in recent months

Looked like a great place to have lunch but should have read the negative reviews - major disappointing lunch for my son and I.

Positives : beautiful view Ordered from the full dinner menu (not the lunch menu) pineapple curry shrimp and scallops. The flavor was excellent but not enough to make up for everything else-

Negatives: the portion was really small only 3 shrimp and 3 scallop with a small amount of yellow rice - for $36 ordering off the dinner menu I expected a full dinner portion- we were having a late lunch and it was to be my main meal of the day- I was still hungry when I finished it.

My son ordered kids chicken fingers/fries and a soda- he received basically inedible hard fried to a crisp tiny bits of chicken (two there wasn’t even any chicken all batter) one had a bone in it - he tried pealing off the breading and had maybe 2 bites - the fries were steak fries which he hates - when I complained they offered to make him more but I said no they were inedible- Then the bill came - the KIDS meal was $15 and the soda $5 - maybe my fault for not looking at the kids menu for price but I would NEVER have expected $20 for a kids meal. As compensation they gave us $5 off for food my kid couldn’t even eat- I do...

We’re on vacation for a week down here in Florida, and when dine out, we spare no expense. I read good reviews on Bayside, so we thought we would give it a go. I have to say the food was very good, as well as the drinks. When it came to the service, it was bad. We had our drink order taken by one person, our food order taken by another person, and our food delivered by a 3rd person. We ordered the ribs, the filets, and the seafood bucket. When the food arrived, we weren’t asked if we needed anything else. In fact, the person who delivered it plopped it down and took off. We had no bone plate for the ribs, and no sharp knife for the filets. As a matter of fact, the server who took our order never came back for a follow up, and I had to flag her down. After that, she dropped off our requested items, which should’ve been brought out with our dinner, and she proceeded to take off and I had to stop her and asked her if we could get more drinks. She never came back and asked us if we were good, or if we needed anything else for the duration of our meal. I had to flag her down for our check. For $150, I would expect a little more up upper level service, but we didn’t get that. Not even close. And as far as the person serving the food to the tables, for the cost and the atmosphere, they should really consider a dress code, sloppy jeans and a t-shirt just wasn’t cutting it. The sunset was great, but by the time the sun went down, I was disappointed, and our dinner was somewhat ruined by not receiving adequate service. I just think if you’re going to have $20-$50 meals on the menu, then you should offer service that fits that type of environment.

Visited this restaurant with my family on the last night of our trip to the Keys. While the view was nice, I was sorely disappointed by the experience as a whole. The hype and prices exceeded the quality by a mile. I found the place a bit grungy and dated, and it was very loud, to the point where we almost had to shout to have a conversation. The live music downstairs could not be heard over the din of customers and the tv upstairs, so that was pointless. We were brought sweet bread (raisin rolls and banana bread), which were okay, but I found it odd to have something so dessert-like to start the meal. I ordered the scallops, priced at $38. While there were several scallops on my plate, they were very overseasoned, almost too salty to eat. The rice they came with tasted like Minute rice that could be purchased at a dollar store, the veggies were few and just okay, and the caper lemon sauce tasted pickley and somewhat unpleasant. I cannot comment on the quality of the drinks, as I did not order one. Overall, I unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant. I found it to be highly overrated and overpriced - go elsewhere.
