I ordered pepper steak ( beef) and got chicken pepper steak. On the menu it clearly says Filetillo Salteado (Pepper Steak) and Pollo Salteado (Pepper Chicken). I speak fluent Spanish so that’s not the reason. Once I said that was not what I ordered, the waitress got defensive, that’s how it comes, and that’s what the kitchen gave me. I didn’t complain and started eating the rice with the beans, I didn’t touch the chicken, I had not ordered, the man behind the counter notice I was not eating the chicken and started questioning the waitress and I over heard her saying it was what I ordered. I then told him that was not true, and that there is a difference even in your menu. They tried to explain again and I told them they had made a mistake and to leave it at that. After a while was when they admitted the mistake and tried to make it right, I refused any replacements at that time and was full from the rice and beans anyway. They asked multiple times to give me something different, but by that time it was to late to correct the initial response they gave me. My wife’s ground beef was not very good either, I do not recommend this place, stay away, they don’t even know what they...
Read moreFood was mediocre at best. Disappointed in the lack of flavor. There were 4 of us and no one raved about how good the food was. My plantains were so dry, I had to choke down each bite with a drink. I didn't finish them. I'm not sure if they should be offering conch fritters as clearly they have no clue what that is. Mine were room temperature, soggy, and any trace of conch meat was difficult to locate. The Cuban sandwich my son ordered looked ok, but lacked flavor and needed to spend more time on the press. Ropa vieja was greasy, so after 2 bites, didn't have any more of that dish. I believe the best item we had was the maduros. Maybe the Caucasian folks who don't know any better are fooled, but this is definitely NOT the best Cuban food available. Our server didn't ask if we liked our meal, didn't notice that none of us finished our meal, but was annoyed that I didn't leave gratuity. The service was only slightly better than the food. I did feel bad for her, though because she was the only person serving to everyone in attendance so she was running and doing her best. Anyway, it's my last day of vacation and still looking for "good" Cuban food, because...
Read moreWe fumbled into this one while on vacation in Key Largo on a dive trip. This is an authentic gem. The Cuban Sandwich was massive and terrific, as was the lobster bisk. There is a full line of outstanding Cuban and other foods, which included first class Flan and Key Lime Pie.
My wife tried the Rice and Beans, with a pulled pork plate, which came with their own sauce. That was great. I took my nephew (20) and my son's friend (22) to lunch the next day. Both are quasi finicky eaters. They'd never had Cuban food ever per-se.
Both the boys were impressed and finished virtually all of the food, which were massive plates, including a huge steak sandwich, another Cuban Sandwich and all of our left-overs. I had iced tea, which remarkably had a tea bag in the cup and a Cuban Espresso *(the first I'd ever tried). Everything was outstanding!
The total cost for main course four sandwiches, drinks, and deserts for four was $65 (very reasonable!).
Another good indication that this is a nice place, is the police were eating there....lastly, the workers are authentic Cuban-...
