I should have paid attention to the signs from the moment we walked in. We were not greeted, just pointed to an awkward table in the middle of the restaurant where it would have been the worst spot in the entire place to put a highchair. About 10 minutes and several highchair requests later, someone finally took our drink order. While we waited for our drinks, someone else dropped off a highchair and wobbled it around and laughed about the poor condition and lack of stability. We then, of course, requested a different highchair. After we ordered our food and asked for a highchair a couple more times, we waited for chip, dip, and drink refills to no avail. When the food came, I again requested a highchair and they returned with the same one and a smirk. I again asked if they had another one and was told no. We then came to terms with the fact that we would be trying to eat while juggling a two year old. I took one bite of each item on my plate and sent it back. The ground beef was the worst I had ever tasted and the rice was crunchy. My wife had the chimichanga with beef tips and it was actually pretty good. Avoid this place as if your life depends on it.

I have been eating at El Sombrero since it opened, today is the first time I have been disappointed. I was in Kilgore, and a waitress I didn't know waited on us. We made our order, it was delivered, and both orders were wrong, I never get beans and rice, and I said no beans no rice to the waitress, I also ask for no bell peppers or onions.
When our order came we thought it was someone else's order, the fajitas had bell peppers and tomatoes and beans and rice. My friend had order fish fajitas and she got fish tacos...Anyway we told the guy that delivered it we didn't think it was our order, as I have never had a wrong order before! And most that wait on me know I definitely don't do bell peppers and tomatoes. Anyway the waitress came back by and acted a bit like we didn't order what we ordered. No big deal....then the food came back, there were no bell peppers or tomatoes in the fajitas, however the meat was cool, and they still brought the beans and rice. She never once came back by to see if everything was ok, never refilled our water or salsa....
First time for everything I suppose...I will be back anyway, but if the restaurant does not know, it can't...
Read moreWe live in Henderson and drive to Kilgore just to eat at El Sombrero. We went a couple of weeks ago and we had left our masks in our other vehicle. We didn’t think it would be a problem because it was still before dinner time and there were no cars in the parking lot! They turned us away! No problem, drove to Longview and ate at Papacitas. Went back yesterday. We don’t eat all that much and don’t like to take home leftovers, so we share if it’s a lot. We always order the shrimp quesadillas and it’s a lot of food (not cheap either at $14.95 I believe). They were going to charge us $4 to split! We have been to a few restaurants that charge and it’s usually $2. That’s excessive, so we left and...
