We are locals and have lived on the OBX our entire lives. I am 7 months pregnant and my kids wanted to stop in last week for donuts. My mom and I took the kids in there, and the first thing I could smell was a strong chemical odor. We proceeded to order 6 donuts, which had flies all over them, and ordered 4 cups of water. We sat down next to the bathroom and I got up to go wash my hands, except I couldn’t because they were both roped off with yellow tape, an orange cone, and a trash can that said “out of order.” We didn’t think much of it until we smelled the most rancid odor when we got up to throw our trash in the can next to the bathroom. It smelled of pure septic, which is exactly what it was when we asked the staff who was behind the counter. They told us it was a “septic back up” that had been backed up for 2 days. Being pregnant and having my kids there and just eating the donuts we all left horrified. We called the health department who came up and addressed the issue at the location that afternoon. We were notified that the sinks had septic back up, but that the kitchen area was ok, except for a dishwasher that had been out of order since their last health inspection. We will never go back for fear that it is a health hazard....
Read moreLocal here, ready to rant, so buckle up. I don’t often write bad reviews but had to for this one…
Check your freaking expiration dates, Dunkin! We have multiple times gotten drinks from this location with milk or creamer that had gone bad and more than once I have thrown out a sandwich I had one or two bites from because it had a weird taste. Today was the last straw. My husband got a chorizo wrap and ate half of it before he realized it was bad ( he thought that they had messed up the order and given him a different flavor wrap he hadn’t had before).
Now he has food poisoning, ruining our holiday weekend. I had one bite of it and even my stomach feels a little sour. The bad food/drink from here has consistently happened on Sundays (vacation change out days). I don’t know if this is you trying to toss your bad food at departing vacationers you think you won’t have to deal with or just a very unfortunate coincidence but this is completely unacceptable! I thought America was supposed to run on Dunkin, not GET the runs from it!
Get it...
Read moreI love DD, I do, but here's what I don't expect when I visit any DD: (1) a staple that isn't offered. This place offered no maple donuts (I'm not ordering something off-beat), (2) all the donuts were too wet (I.e. undercooked and overfrosted, and (3) the cashier helping me (older Caucasian female) was obviously racist- she was smiling, bubbly, and patient to the Causcasian female in front of me who ordered munchkins for her daughters birthday and couldn't decide what kind and how many. And then when it was my turn and I ordered munchkins, she didn't ask what assortment I wanted, just started tossing the munchkins aggressively into a box and when I asked if there was an option to choose for my little one (standing right next to me excited as can be to be getting donuts for breakfast), she angrily dumped everything back into trays and stared at me annoyed as I asked for the ones I wanted.
Please train your staff and get the food...
