Walking in my best friend and I spoke immediately to the woman working the door however, after I said hello to her, she stood silent and void of acknowledgement so, I stood staring at her and she me until her mind came back to her body and asked if we we needed a table for two. It was truly awkward as she stood as if her mind was simply blank for what seemed like 30 seconds which you know is in fact, too long of a pause when in conversation... Anywhooo, The waitress we had told us she was only 19 yrs old thus couldn't tell us anything about the drinks...

I ordered a strawberry margarita however, when it arrived.. it was a glass filled with mostly ice and very little drink. I had to order a 2nd one with specific instructions to hold the ice. My friend ordered a drink called, "The Fish Tank". This was absolutely nuts!! The drink was in fact in a really large glass shaped like a fish tank. She couldn't and wouldn't finish it because she was buzzed before getting half done and a man sitting near us who had the same drink but finished his looked like he was about to fall off the bench and he was a pretty good size dude! My friend said the taste was so good!! We ordered a child's cheeseburger with fries and a pulled pork BBQ sandwich on a hoagie but, when it delivered to the table, it was on a very greasy hamburger bun but, the meet was quite tender and had a great taste. We also had regular fries and sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries where cut too thin, they where chewy like rubber in the center and hard around the outer edges. I do not recommend getting those.. The regular fries where pretty good if I do say so myself. The cheeseburger was really tasteful. I will definitely eat here again! Update: We stopped in again for late evening snacks. The experience was less than good, to be fair. We ordered the fried mushrooms, which were not bad, but the service was.. The clearly under trained waitress asked us in a perplexed tone, "Is that all you're going to order?" We advised her that for the moment yes and so she left us not knowing what to say. After a few minutes, she asked if we wanted the bill or if we where going to get something else as if they needed us to hurry up, pay and leave even though they had many open tables and nobody waiting to come in. So we then ordered the loaded fries. This was truly awful! I don't recommend them to anyone!. The loaded fries where simply loaded with too much Sodium... My mouth actually hurt from eating just 1 and a 1/2 fries... I'm all for seasoning however, Salt is one that needs a light touch or the food can be overwhelmed as it was tonight. This place is truly a toss up, a hit or miss on the food but, the under age waitstaff are each time have been 100% off putting. There seems to be a real lack of good customer...

The bad experience started the minute our party walked in. We were shown two tables as “options” one was a small booth (for our party of six that eventually turned to a party of eight) and one was another booth with no cushions. We asked for the corner booth and we were told we could not sit there (they later sat a party the same size as ours there 🙄). We asked for a table since we couldn’t have the booth we requested. The hostess was very stand off ish and rude about giving us a table saying “I’ll have to push tables together so it’ll bit a little while” and then took her time getting us seated. Our waitress was ok but was soooo slow. She would be very chatty and nice when she was around but then would disappear foreverrrrrrrr. We all ordered drinks and most were good except for the nitro beer on tap. It was complete flat. As we got closer to closing our waitress became even more elusive. Someone in our party went to the restroom and she came in there at the same time. Someone else in our party went in about ten minutes later and she was just coming out and there were a few other waitresses in there….they had just been chitchatting. We had been sitting at our table just waiting for a bill this entire time. I actually had to go find my own to go containers because she hadn’t been to our table for so long. After she delivered our bill she disappeared again for another long period of time. We had an issue with our bill so I finally just took it up to the bar to address it as we were one of the last parties in the restaurant and we were just READY TO GO. She finally showed up and took care of it but sheesh. We were super ready to go after some Karen complained to the manager about our baby “being wild.” She was just walking around our table and crawling on the floor around our table. She was not being wild. It seemed after this complaint, though, that our service completely tanked. It had been ok before this and because we were having to “contain” our baby, we were beyond ready to leave. We’ve never had such an experience at the back porch in Temple. Safe to say we won’t be back to this location which is sad since it’s literally in our backyard. I’ll take the extra time and drive to temple where we get superb service and our baby isn’t a nuisance. 🙄 on the plus side, our food was delicious. So, great job, kitchen staff. !!!WARNING!!! Buyer beware, this was hands down the worst restaurant experience we've ever had in our lives. DO NOT waste your money here. You could go to HEB & spend a quarter of the price & get twice the quality. We had a party of 4 adults & 2 kids, paid over $150. First off, the appetizer Nacho Brisket came out Very COLD, bland flavor, brisket looked & tasted old. A few pickled jalapenos & bargain cheap imitation nacho cheese. It was horrible. The kids drinks never came out until after the meal. The waitress Savahnna was completely off her game. We didn't even get plates to share the disgusting nachos. The mixed alcoholic drinks tasted like water; home pantry would have been a way better route. Burger buns were soggy, the meat patties were not even seasoned. The Baja fish tacos came out with ice cold tortillas & a barely warm fried fish. The Borracho beans are SOOOO salty & had a straight up vinegar flavor, not even bean flavored. HEB Canned Beans are WAY better. We spoke with the floor manager about our horrible meal experience. He went to speak with the General Manager, named David. The way they wanted to make it right was to give us some $10 off credits that were only valid in this same horrible establishment. We even turned this offer down & they will not do anything else to make it right. How can we in good conscience come back here & subject ourselves to horrible food & service a second time? The General Manager would not even come out to speak with us, he just sent the floor Manager out to us with this offer. David, this is not how you run a business! PEOPLE, please take our word for it...Do not make the same mistake we did by eating here.
