For starters I am not a picky eater, with that said... Beef bulgolgi: Terrible. More like GREY, stringy, and mushy beef DROWNED in an awkward tasting brown gravy and vegetable. The dish is supposed to be grilled, with little to no veg, and no gravy. There is a differece between marinating beef and having it swim in gravy to try to hide the fact that it is poorly seasoned. I know this is an American Chinese restaurant but if it's not bulgolgi just say it's a little bit of beef drowned in brown gravy and 80% vegetables. Honey chicken: Sucks. Very BLAND, and chemically tasting fried chicken. When the "honey" sauce is poured over it's still awful. It may be that the cooks are either too LAZY to sauté their fried chicken in a sauce so it can sort of thicken and carmalize like some of their other dishes (orange chicken/ general tzo's) or must not realize how gross it tastes to just plop the sauce over. Also there wasn't enough sauce to cover my sad chicken, and it did not taste like honey. Salt and pepper shrimp: Dissapointing. Dissatisfying. Disrespectful. Bland. Barely a dash of salt and pepper. Since it is fried I think it is unnecessary to offer to pair it with rice, especially since the shrimp were dry and overcooked. Also has that strong chemical flavor like the "honey" chicken. Combination lo mein: Flavor was ok, noodles were cooked fine, BUT the pork and chicken were dry, tough and gritty. Tasted and felt over cooked. Dissapointed that there were only 3 pieces of small shrimp. Come on at least 6. Overall I would not order from here again or recommend this restaurant. The quality of the recipes/ingredients are poorly thought out and executed. It seems like this restaurant has too big of a menu to keep up with, and tries to trick the customer into thinking that since there is so much variety it is better than other american chinese restaurants. It's not, so save your coins. Delivery was fast, food was the correct order, and the delivery...
Read moreThis place’s quality goes up and down on a monthly basis. I order from wok oon fire out of convenience, but I must accept the unpredictable outcome of the order. Generous tips don’t always result in a generous outcome... ordered sweet and sour pork. I recieved a bunch of small deep fried pieces of chicken...parts. It was explained to me the “small” deep fried objects were “pork”, because the larger “deep fried objects” are chicken. I didn’t realize all these years that pigs are smaller than chickens, and require more batter. Ok... and I’m just wondering why there was dry deep fried stuff food “objects” with no sweet and sour sauce... oh wait. It’s a do it yourself. I pour the sauce on. That’s a new concept for me. If you’ve ever eaten china town NY, DC or anywhere else Chinese in this country this is as Chinese as fast food on its worst day, only much more expensive. I tried to be polite in following up with the place, but I was shut down. Buy a hot dog at the local gas station for better cuisine. Much cheaper, faster, and less debate
Keep up the great work “wok on fire”
-edit-
I gave the managing staff on call the opportunity to defend the poor service. He gave me the typical shady excuses for the food quality, and literally hung up on me when he was getting cornered.
My advice... it’s not Chinese or takeout, but go with pho 9 on vet memorial, or pho Saigon on Rancier. Great genuine Vietnamese food. Likewise, there is Korean kitchen, also on vet memorial, and “Seoul to go” on elms. Great Korean food.
Unfortunately Chinese cuisine is unavailable in this town “for delivery”. I’ve been told “China Star” is a great sit down Chinese restaurant.
But if you like deep fried garbage customer robbery that’s available for delivery and called “chinese”... well, that’s only a phone call away.
No offense to the drivers. You guys are doing a great job. Your employers......
Read moreWant to risk a ruined date night? Order here. I gave them another chance after their delivery guy helped himself to an additional eight dollars from my credit card, when I had tipped in cash and left the receipt blank. Management said I couldn't prove it, so I let it go, though I didn't order from them for a year. I wont be going back after tonight, not for subpar convenience food. Price does not reflect quality, and even at half price, wouldn't be worth the nightmare of their pathetic excuse for customer service, which consists of, in so many words, "you're wrong." Expect something in your order to be missing or wrong, expect to be overcharged, and expect to be treated like you should be ashamed of yourself for expecting a decent experience. I would know, because I gave chances out like candy to them until I'm just done. Without letting the experience color my opinion of the food, let me describe it objectively. The steamed rice is soggy and overcooked, the fried rice is greasy, the dumplings, usually okay, are inedible with a sharp, rancid flavor. The firecracker shrimp and sesame chicken are okay, with good red sauce, the 2 egg rolls are tiny; crispy outside and mushy inside. So 2 plates, 2 spring roll sized egg rolls, and bad dumplings for almost $40.00, and a shamelessly rude cashier who got my order wrong gave absolutely no _____s. At least she told me to have a good night...
