I wish I could give them 0 stars. This was a bad experience all the way around. When we arrived we requested outdoor seating because the day was beautiful and they were playing live music. There was an open table that we could see but the hostess told us that the table was unavailable. She did not even ask us if we'd like to wait for another open table. She seated us quickly on the inside. The outside table actually was available because not even 15 minutes later they seated another party at that table. Our waitress was a little rude and standoffish. She read off their "specials" which sounded like another menu all together instead of what was in front of us. My husband ordered "the recovery". I ordered shrimp and grits. My daughter ordered the PB&J Waffle. My husband's meal was 1/2 of the portion that we had seen on the other tables. It was literally 1 piece of toast with HALF of a piece of sausage and a hash brown topped with gravy to cover up the skimpy serving. The man sitting next to us had the same meal and his was served with a nice side of fruit and eggs which looked very appetizing while my husband's food looked like they were giving "the help" a free meal yet charged us $13!! My shrimp & grits came on a SAUCER and was loaded with grease with 2 SHRIMP on the top for $14!!?? My daughter was told they did not have the PB&J waffle but offered her another meal. She chose the mac n cheese which was loaded with salt she was only able to eat 3 bites and couldn't finish the rest. Our waitress NEVER came back to check on us. I waited until I had seen a lady that looked like management and told her I was not satisfied with the Shrimp & Grits. My husband did not want to complain about his meal because he's not a complaining person by nature. She was very kind and apologetic. She took the food back and offered another meal. I accepted and asked for the Chicken & Waffles. She asked if I wanted it to-go, like they were rushing us. I said that was okay because my husband and daughter had already finished their meal. The waitress came out quickly when she saw someone else tending to us. Maybe she was afraid it would interfere with her tip. When I got home this meal was a JOKE!! 1 waffle was maybe 2x3 inches in size and it was so burnt that it was not even edible then it was topped with a 1/2 of a waffle on top of the chicken. The only good thing is at least they didn't charge for the chicken and waffles. I am so sorry that we ever stopped for brunch. The place was packed and other people seemed very happy. We felt judged the entire time. Maybe because we are an interracial couple? Maybe because we are not locals? Maybe because we don't look like we come from old southern money? Who knows.... I just know that we will...
Read moreWe visited around noon on a Thursday and it was pretty busy inside. We got seated right away though, which was nice. The place has a nice atmosphere and is very upscale casual — a good brunch spot, but not necessarily where I'd choose for a date night, if that makes sense.
The food was solid. They had daily specials which were actually limited time options, which was cool. I got the shrimp quesadilla special with mango salsa and The Husband got the BBQ & Bacon mushroom swiss burger with fries. It wasn't the best food I ever had, but not the worst either. It's not anything I'll be thinking about for a long time or craving later.
I also got the Apple Cider Margarita, which was okay. It was cute enough but tasted like apple juice with tequila, so that was a little disappointing. It sounded better on the menu and I wish I'd saved that $15.
Pricing wise, it's what I'd consider average for 2025 — which is low-key expensive. Everything is priced at $13 or higher. So, expect to spend at least $40 for two people.
The service was excellent though. Dannie (I think that's how you spell her name?) was attentive without being overbearing. It was a very chill experience and one I'd recommend of you're in the area and want some where chill to sit down and have a...
Read more133 West is a delightful addition to the historic Kings Mountain downtown. Its sleek, simplistic ambiance boast modern elegance while retaining an inviting, quaint southern flair. My party opted for outdoor seating in the partial covered patio. The combination of mimosas' along with live acoustic music set the scene for a very enjoyable afternoon. The understated brunch menu offered on Sunday's from 11-2pm consisted of southern classics professionally prepared with an attention to detail that was only matched by the quality of the ingredients used. We started with the fried green tomatoes appetizer (pictured) which were fried to perfection and topped with a shrimp and bacon succotash. The bright bitter flavor of the green tomato perfectly complimented the savory succotash. I followed up with the 133 Burger which was cooked to a perfect medium well with melted brie cheese along with a red onion jam which I found to be a perfect match blending creamy earthiness with a punchy sweetness. The staff have clearly been trained well and were attentive and courteous in an effortless fashion. I look forward to exploring the ever changing seasonal ingredient-driven dinner and...
