So this is a really REALLY hard review to write. Matthew B was our server. To start we sat down and it was over 15 min before he ever came to the table to get a drink order meanwhile the tables around us all had the servers get drink orders and bring the drinks out quickly. Maybe they were busy and we just couldn’t see it. No big deal. We ordered our food order when we ordered our drinks. Food came out quickly. The food runner was very sweet, asked us if she could get anything else and told us to enjoy. But back to our server, my drink was empty the whole meal, asked for a refill from our server when he checked how the food was, and never got one. I had to drink my husband’s drink. The food was amazing, hot and tasty. The spice was perfectly spicy (but that’s why I needed my drink). Finally we saw him for the third and final time and we were asked flat out if we want the bill. No offer for To go boxes or dessert and I had to ask again for a drink. He brought my drink and my husband a broken to go box. It was just one upset after another. The last straw though, which makes us unsure if we will ever return, was the tip situation. We paid our bill and since I used to be a server we always do a small tip by credit card and leave the rest in cash. It’s just something I do. We placed two on the bill and he ran off my husband had to ask him for a final copy of our receipt. Which thank God we did. He changed the $2.00 to $20.00. I had to get a manager to adjust and when they refunded it and had to recharge the bill he had a HUGE attitude. Like absolutely horrible. Snatching things and literally throwing a child’s tantrum. This is why this review was so difficult. Because if Matthew B was better and acted better it would have been a solid 5 stars! His representation of the business left such a bad taste we don’t know if we will ever be back in the future. And that stinks because the food and atmosphere really made us believe we may have...
Read moreThey carried me when I was so mentally weak and couldn’t carry myself. My husband has been sick with pneumonia almost 2 weeks and is in the hospital. Our little AFL lady has been with me for 32 years so she is no long just a job for me but Sue is our family. She has insisted being with me everyday at the hospital with my husband because she’s “mama.” She was getting tired of hospital cafeteria food so I decided to take her somewhere nice. We hadn’t been to Nick’s in awhile and Sue’s favorite is their chicken livers. When we entered the hostess asked us to follow her but Sue had a table picked out and the chair she wanted to sit in so the hostess accommodated it for her. As our waitress was asking us our drink order Sue was removing her coat. Being independent is one of her goals. We want her to be able to do as much as she can for herself. As I was speaking to the waitress this lady comes over to our table and makes rude comments about my care for Sue stating that I don’t take proper care of her, degrading us both as Sue sat there saying she wasn’t a little child. As anybody who knows Sue she is 12 yrs old in a 74 year old body. Her 12 year old mentality never changes so for this lady to come over and start removing Sue’s jacket was an insult to Sue also. I sat there. I was shocked. My waitress asked her to remove herself from our area and go back to her table. She finally did but she was bashing and talking loud about our situation. I just want to say thank you to the staff for handling that for Sue and I. That lady had no clue what kind of day we had and she just added fuel to our fire but you all made us feel as welcome as possible. Sue loved the chicken livers and banana pudding. See yall...
Read morehusband and I stopped in for a late lunch and were seated right away—no wait, which was a plus. We loved the look and atmosphere of the restaurant, and our server went above and beyond with their service.
Unfortunately, the meal itself was disappointing. My husband’s chicken was overcooked, and the coleslaw had an odd taste that neither of us enjoyed. I ordered the original chicken sandwich, but it wasn’t what I expected. Instead of being served on Texas toast, it came on a regular bun, and the chicken seemed more like tenders than a proper breast—also overcooked.
They no longer offer the home-cut fries, which was a letdown. The highlight of the meal was the fried green tomatoes—they were delicious and the only part we truly enjoyed.
We had high hopes based on the atmosphere and service, but sadly, the food didn’t live up to expectations.
