If you don’t want to read the whole review-the short answer is I MAY try to eat here again. My initial thought upon entering the restaurant is way too much clutter. Too many knick knacks. It reminds me of my great grandmother’s house. The walls are covered with photos, metal signs, Italian chef decor, model cars, tin metal cookie and cracker containers, a quilt, and Christmas decorations (we visited during the holiday season). There doesn’t appear to be a unified theme and in my opinion, a lot of it should be sold or donated in order to make room for customers, as this is clearly a popular place to eat. So many things in the restaurant really distracted us but not really in a good way. The place could feel so much bigger and cleaner with a little less stuff. It didn’t appear dirty inside but with so much around, it feels dirty and claustrophobic. There are multiple options on the tables-creamer, butter, syrup, ketchup, Himalayan salt and pepper. It’s just busy-all the way around. From the decor to the amount of customers, it’s busy so something must be working. The place was packed full of customers and I’ve always heard great reviews of it so despite the overcrowding with mismatched decor, I decided to try it. The wait for our food was a little more than I expected (over 30 minutes) for a cheeseburger, tater tots, and an omelette but the service is friendly and the food is decent. Although next time, I will skip the cheeseburger. It was quite dry. But the tater tots were great. They weren’t greasy at all. I have a feeling most people come to this restaurant for breakfast and not the cheeseburger. The omelette was cooked just right and not overly done. Sometimes, places will cook an omelette too much and dry out the eggs or make them crispy. The cheese was plentiful and nicely melted on the omelette. The home fries were not greasy and the toast was so buttery, warm and thick. I loved the toast! Although we didn’t have them, we saw pancakes and they looked delicious. The biscuits and gravy were quite popular with other customers and it sure did look great. I’m not sure if they were short-handed or if it’s always this chaotic but I felt bad for the servers. One of the bathrooms had a water leak and there were workers inside the restaurant. I think this fact may have contributed to the craziness. Overall, edible food. I may try again.

I am always hesitant about leaving an okay review but I have to be honest. The fries were delicious! Yummy good. The hamburger meat on my burger was not even warm. My bun was warm though. But it threw it off by being served a hamburger that wasn't even a little warm. And my husbands Hamburger steak was not warm either. His mashed potatoes were warm he loved his green beans. But the meat for both of us was not warm so it threw us both off. You expect your food to at least be a little warm when you just ordered it. My fries were hot and fresh! So I'm not sure what was going on with the hambuger meat today. Not sure we will return there. We wanted to give it a chance and we like to try new cafe's and resturants. Was a little disappointed because on facebook the food looks so yummy. Maybe we got them on an off day today. Sadly, things just weren't the best when the main course is cold.

We love this place! This is our go to place for Sunday breakfast. Been eating regularly here for about a year, and never had a bad meal or service. The employees are very friendly and quick to keep your coffee cup filled. The prices for what you get are very reasonable and fair considering today's economics. The restaurant is always clean, which is important to my wife and I. Any place that has a tree decorated for the current or upcoming holiday is ok in my book. And we must not be the only ones who enjoy this place because there is a constant flow of Door Dash type workers picking up to-go orders. You will not be disappointed for coming here for breakfast or lunch.

I am only giving this place two stars because the lady that waited on us was nice enough. The place has a terrible smell when you walk in like a sewer not very appetizing when you’re trying to eat the food was not good no care was taken. There is a little clip of some sort going on downtown and if you are not part of that you don’t get good service, nor do they pay attention to how they cook. Your food over medium eggs were almost running off the plate. I’m not sure what kind of sausage that was, but it was horrible. The main thing that bothered me the most was that an older lady who was obviously a regular customer and had obvious disabilities, came in to eat. They basically yelled at her and treated her like dirt, I had my grandchildren with me. She smiled at them and tried to talk nice to the children and one of the women that work there came over and told her to sit down and shut up and apologize to us for her bothering us. I will never go in that place again. It should be shut down. The health department should be called over that smell. Very disappointing for a downtown business. I do appreciate that the business took time to answer my review. I am not familiar with this place enough to know to have asked for the owner. Had I known that I would have asked as it was I just finished what we could eat of the food and left. I just don’t think I will be back. I was not impressed. The worst part about the situation was the smell. It was just terrible. it was a very strong smell that hit us as soon as we walked in. I almost left then and wish that I had. I’m hoping they got that fixed. The situation with the lady in there may have just been an isolated incident I don’t have all the facts about her. I’m sure being a downtown business and in that area they probably do help out people that are down and out from time to time, I know that a lot of those places do but I do have to say the food was not good. It just wasn’t and I would think the person serving it. would have been able to see that. And again the smell was horrific I believe if someone from the health department came in and smell that they would’ve shut the place down. And yes, it was to dad’s café in downtown Kingsport on Sullivan Street. Next door to the shades of Grace Church. I know...

Honestly, the servers and the food are pretty good...but the 2 older women up front running the counter almost make it not even worth it. Just incredibly rude when I came in to get my order.

I've went back and read a lot of the reviews and the responses to them. I've noticed that the doordash responses are met with a lot of hostility. And all actuality, doordash does not work for you. We do not work for you as well as we do not work for doordash. When our orders are not out in a timely fashion, it costs us time and money. It doesn't cost you anything, if anything you are making more money by having a second base of clientele through doordash. We deserve a little bit more respect than you give us when we come into your restaurant. The same respect I show them every single time I come in regardless of the bad attitude. You may not be a fast food restaurant, but there are other restaurants (big restaurants) that are more than capable of getting the orders out in a reasonable way and without being hateful. If your business is not capable of doing this and being polite to your clientele whether they are dining in, ordering out, or if it is doordash picking up for one of your customers....you seriously need to consider uncoupling yourself from DoorDash entirely, because I guarantee it will be the end of your business otherwise. If you've had as many issues with dashers as dashers have had with you guys, that just kinda confirms it. The fact that you are trying to make more excuses than you are trying to fix the actual problem is a huge red...
