Chuy's — Restaurant in Kingwood

I LOVEEE Chuys! I grew up coming often and get the same thing 9 times out of 10 (deluxe chicken enchiladas), and am a BIG fan.

I live out of state now and haven’t been back in awhile, I was super looking forward to my Chuys visit especially bringing my fiancée for the first time.

The food was great, service was pretty fast in regards to the food. Unfortunately though the Margarita situation was a bit disappointing. I asked 2 different waitresses about the tequila options, both said they didn’t know. Which is fine I suppose, especially now seeing it’s newly opened. But I asked them to check for me on what types of the top shelf options there were. In response I got a “pretty sure that’s what that is” and then got clarification of my order and tequila choice, I noted that I only wanted that tequila if it was a silver or blanco again and said if it wasn’t to come back first.

Well then I waited. Got my food. Finished my food. No Margarita in site. Finally when we were ready to just cut our losses on my Margarita and ask for the check, a woman brought me my margarita. Well, kind of. It was beautiful but it was a classic Margarita, but I had ordered blackberry. I wish I had just kept the regular one though. I explained the mix up on flavors and she left. I waited a bit longer and finally she returned with the flavored one. Though, it was an inch or more shorter in the glass. I took a sip and it was heavy on syrup. It was thick. Didn’t taste like ones I’ve had in the past. It also didn’t taste like the correct tequila was used. I didn’t want to wait longer, especially when my questions and requests seemed to cause confusion, so I didn’t raise the issue. It’s been a couple days now and I find myself a little sad and disappointed that my Margarita that I looked forward to was so disappointing.

Again, I now realize it is a pretty freshly opened location. So I simply want to offer the suggestion of a little more practice, some more knowledge of the bar items, or just willingness to go and check/ask and return to inform. A little more speed would be nice as well. I know that may come with time but there were many customers that received their drinks before me that came in after me. I’ll add again that my drink also came well after we had finished our meal.

Growing pains are real though and my love for Chuys remains as strong as ever. I’m sure with time the location will...

Chuy’s is a Tex-Mex restaurant known for its lively atmosphere and quirky decor. The place has a very authentic, vibrant feel, making it a fun experience as soon as you walk in.

As for the food, it’s good but not exceptional. The menu features all the classic Tex-Mex options like enchiladas, tacos, and fajitas. The portions are generous, and the quality of the ingredients is evident. However, while the dishes are well-prepared, they aren’t particularly memorable. For instance, the creamy jalapeño sauce, which is popular among patrons, didn’t quite live up to the hype for me.

The real downside of this particular Chuy’s location is its size. It’s a mini Chuy’s, which makes it too small for the number of people living in this area. During peak hours, it can feel a bit overwhelming due to the lack of space, which affects the overall experience. Despite the good service and pleasant atmosphere, the space limitation can result in long waits and a less comfortable dining experience.

Let me start off with we did not get off to a good start. We got here sat down got chips and queso and then our server disappeared. 21 minutes later we are out of chips and out of drinks and didn't even place an order yet. We were ready to get up and leave until Mrs.Shatera came along. She was not our waitress but she came to the rescue. She came up with a smile on her face and willing to get our order and our drinks. She had changed our whole deminure tonight. She was absolutely a go getter and loved her job. You could see her dancing around the restaurant the entire night! You can definitely tell She loves what she does. Chuys let Shatera be the model of waitress at this establishment! She is single handly the only reason we will be returning. And we will ask for her everytime...
