Juanita Cantina — Restaurant in Kirkland

Our local cantina may not be a one-way ticket to Mexico, but it's our weekly tradition and we couldn't be happier. This isn't a place that relies on flashy gimmicks or a hyper-authentic facade. Instead, it's a spot that earns its stripes through solid food, a clean space, and a staff that treats you like family once they get to know you.

It's been a few different restaurants over the last decade, but this current version is, without a doubt, the best. With a great happy hour and being only a block away, it's become our go-to spot.

Our usual order is the carnitas plate and an ice-cold beer on tap. We also can't resist their delicious queso with chorizo on top, or the satisfying street tacos during happy hour. For drinks, their Oaxacan old-fashioned is a standout, and they have an impressive selection of Mezcal.

Rather disappointed in our experience here. Despite what it says on their online dinner menu, they in fact DO NOT offer their margaritas in a 32oz. Specialty margaritas we did order were exceptional though and it’s pretty close to the park to have a nice walk afterwards on a nice day. Server was very attentive, almost to a fault, making it seem like we were rushed to leave even though we were there hours before closing. I am not the type of person who usually leaves reviews at restaurants but we went out to dinner last night at Juanita Cantina with some friends but unfortunately our server didn’t give us the best experience. It took a long time for her to come to our table for the first time and when I ordered a big margarita never got it I think she forgot. I also wanted some limes for my food but she never came back to check if we needed anything or how everything was going. The food was excellent and the place is great. I hope next time we have a...
