What an Indian rustic eatery place it is! Welcoming surroundings by touch of Kerala! I’m visiting to this place since 4 years and they never disappoint us, if only thing which matters is that place is very cozy and small for big party tables but however if you get good spicy tempting food along with friendly service then of course big yes for Kathakali! Honestly I never tried South Indian food before and it was my big misunderstanding that South Indian cuisine concept which means only about spices but when I tried Kathakali they proved me wrong! Their menu which is absolutely out of my words and pronunciation too but I know what I have to eat and their front staff understand very well. We tried chicken biriyani, dry prawns, chicken wings & tilapia fish in appetizers and dosa also kind of Daal vada. Goat curry, cashew based chicken tikka masala curry is so so good perfectly cooked with fresh blended spices and bite of laccha(malabar) paratha with those curries what a combination!!! Must try last but not least jackfruit flavored ice cream aaahhmmm so tasty! Also something it comes cooked in banana leaf it is sweet and hot; perfect for cold weather whoever likes warmed-hot desserts! Deep fried sweet banana coated with flavorful batter which I found so unique dessert and too tasty! Had pistachio lassi which is sweeten and thick but specially I don’t take drinks before meal otherwise I can’t enjoy my rustic meal! By the way be ready if you’re really foodie because sometimes this place packed and you have to be waited for outside in waitlist and that’s too in cold winter but yes wait is worth it!
They have plenty of free parking and if you’re too full-off with food after your good meal must take steps towards Juanita Beach which is just on 3-5 minutes away...
Read moreThis place is a gem. Had decent expectations after reading the reviews and this place certainly lives up to the hype. Nothing but good things to say about this spot.
Having traveled extensively within Malaysia and been fortunate to enjoy a wide variety of delicious Indian food, I can attest this place is on the same level with what you would expect from an upper tier Indian restaurant outside of India.
If you eat here and don't start off with the Coco Paneer, that would absolutely be a mistake! It was absolutely delicious. It is an absolute necessity!
The chicken tikka masala was flavorful and rich. The Chicken mushroom kurma was hearty and fulfilling, the chicken was perfectly cooked. And the garlic naan, was properly crisp and not under/over cooked. All highly recommended.
It was quite busy when I arrived, which was a good sign. That said, the service from entry to exit was impeccable. Upon being greeted by what seemed like was going to be a long wait, everyone was offered menus to browse while we waited so they could put in our orders while we waited. The logistics of doing this paid off and despite having about 20 people waiting for tables, our wait was only about 10 minutes. Excellent.
Overall I would absolutely recommend this place and will certainly be returning to try something else on their extensive menu. If you want an authentic southern Indian experience with delicious food, great atmosphere, excellent food quality, and impeccable service and hospitality, this is certainly...
Read moreUpdate 11/16/2018 - long wait times. Since I knew there is a lot of crowd in the evening I called to make a reservation. The person said there is no rush and just come in. So we went. Upon reaching we found, to our surprise, that all the tables were full and wait time was 30 minutes. When asked why you did not take the reservation, he refused that they even received a call. When I showed him called number from my phone, the guy's answer - "How would I know if all of a sudden people are coming??". Knocking one star off. I hope owner reads these reviews. Over last year what used to be a 5 starred place is already at 4.
A gem. Absolutely loved everything we ordered here. Since it's a Malayalam style restaurant (Kerala state of India) I reckoned I should try their famous fish recipes and boy I was in for a treat. Fish fried inside banana leaf is incredible and the Naattu fish (King fish steak with light sweetish yellow sauce) is a must try. We also had chicken wings, made up in traditional Indian spices and they were great. We topped off with jackfruit dessert and couldn't be happier. Excellent choice if you are looking for a different taste. Expect to spend around $25-28 per person if you are in with a big hunger. Parking space is tight and slots in the corner are weirdly shaped. Be careful if you are driving a sedan, easy to scratch bumpers. Apart from tight parking, this space is without...
