I ordered cupcakes, cookies and pretzel sticks for my daughterâs birthday and for these items and the overall service I give Candyland Designs Co 2 stars. The positives: all of our guests said the treats tasted really good - the cupcakes were moist, the cookies tasted like a shortbread or something really decadent without being too sweet and the chocolate on the pretzel rods was really good and the owner was pleasant to deal with overall. The negatives: whenever I would call whether to get information, place my order or update my pickup time it always seemed like the owner was a little out of sorts and this resulted in her thinking that I ordered certain items that I didnât and also slightly overcharging but the overcharge was refunded without any issue. The biggest reason for taking 2 stars off is because the quality of work was VERY poor. The pictures on the website and social media that lured me to this bakery didnât show true in the product I received. The cookies were not cut with a cookie cutter and the shaping was uneven and untidy. when ordering specialty items from a bakery I would hope that a cookie cutter would be used at the very least. The icing to decorate the cookies was sophomoric at best. It was so bad that my guests thought we decorated them. The different layers and colors of icing didnât seem to dry enough so they didnât settle well and the different colors ran into each other. The cupcakes were supposed to have cream cheese icing but it hardly tasted like that, it may have been mixed with buttercream but I canât be sure. They were all different sizes, the icing was applied very sloppy looking and the red sprinkles that were used to cover the icing were not what I ordered based on the picture I sent with my order for reference and they were very bitter which ruined the cupcake for me. The pretzel rods I ordered were ok looking but unfortunately most of the candy bows that were applied as decoration broke because of how all of the items order were packed into one box. I have attached pictures of all of the items we ordered. If you are looking for a special design or if you want a certain look I would be hesitant to...
Read moreI wanted to get the cutest owl cake for my like my own sister's baby shower. I started planning early since it was out of town and had to do some searching for a baker that was in the Orlando area. Most bakeries are not open on Sundays and I was actually going to pick Publix for a simple one.
After not giving up, I found this bakery on Yelp. I contacted them and spoke with the owner Leia directly. Not only did she answer every question I may had, she exceeded all expectations and more. There were a few options that were in mind and finally narrowed it down to one 6" round cake with 24 cupcakes. I showed her pictures what I was aiming for and she recommended flavors that went well together when I was having a hard time picking just one. Let me tell you that the flavor choices are plentiful as found on the website and I was trusting her to do the best since I wasn't going to be in the area before hand to taste samples of each flavor that was available.
The 6" cake had an almond flavor with buttercream frosting and half of the cupcakes had vanilla flavor with raspberry frosting and the other half had marble flavor with cookies and cream frosting. Leia delivered and set everything up. It was presented beautifully on the cake stand that was included and she even helped with some of the decorating of the shower. It was such a nice gesture to help without asking!
There's a Yelp check-in offer of 20% off a purchase on the site that she said that wasn't valid for over a year and she still honored it on the purchase for me when I mentioned it. I'm still in awe of how the cake turned out and everyone complimented on how amazing the cake and cupcakes looked and tasted. The mom-to-be was in heaven over it and it was deliciously perfect! Thank you so much for topping the cake and making it one for all of us to remember for...
Read moreI hate giving bad reviews but after ordering something for the second time I had to. First time I ordered, I sent in a picture of what I wanted and explained that I needed the cake to be certain specific colors, it was a graduation cake. When I went to pick it up the cake was blue instead of red, the owner changed the color there and then which made me feel like it was rushed and couldâve been nicer, blamed the error on her new assistant. Never offered a discount or anything for their mistake.. it was just a whole mess.. I decided to place another order more than a week ago for one of her gift boxes(strawberries and moscato) for a birthday present when you place the order it ONLY allows you to select the date of pick up and email confirmation stated to pick up between 10-6. When I went to pick up the order at around 1pm it was closed, when I called the lady that answered said they did NOT have any orders for pick up. I explained I placed an order and had email confirmation she tried to tell me I didnât put in time, MIND YOU it DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO PUT IN PICK UP TIME. It says pick up between 10am and 6pm so you assume you can pick up whenever between that time. She said it was her fault she didnât call to confirm time. She offered to deliver the gift box; the gift box was delivered and it was completely different from the picture on the website. Just plain white strawberries with a super cheap wine vs the barefoot moscato thatâs advertised. It doesnât state on the website that actual order may vary. While the taste of her cakes and stuff is good, this isnât a place you can rely on if you have a very important event because for sure you wonât get your orders right and on time....
