Most overrated restaurant I've been to so far. I went to dine here with my wife as it was her birthday. The evening seemed to go off a great start when I saw a personilized menu with her name on it wishing her a happy birthday. That was an excellent touch. However, that soon changed when a rude and pushy waiter called Cesar started serving us. Luckily that changed as it was the end of his shift and we were taken care of by a very nice young lady called Shannon. What a change! My wife ordered the Red Snapper and she loved it. I tasted it and thought it was ok, it had a good taste but nothing amazing. I ordered the Chef's special which was the spiked lobster tail. It was really average right on the border of mediocre. The flavor was different, you could feel mint, butter and a little spicyness to it. I'll give the chef points for innovation. however, the lobster looked burnt on the shell and the meat was undercooked in part which off course gives a horrible taste and slimy texture to it. I must say if you want lobster, don't go here, you'll be better off at your local Red Lobster.
Check arrives with an extra $12.75 dollars on it with a "Wyndham resorts 15% coupon" description or something like that. I inquired about the increased price and they tell me if you pay with a gift card, they have to add a 15% strange charge to the total bill. That means, and be advised, if you buy a 100 Gift card, expect whoever you give it to to only be able to use $85 out of it. Not sure if I misunderstood something, but to me, but this seems really strange to me. if you pay $100 for a gift certificate worth of food, that (minus tax) is exactly what you should get.
Also, in my opinion, it's ridiculously overpriced and not because of the amount you end up paying, but for what you get for what you pay. Absolutely no value for the price. I payed $34 for a fish with no sides (sides are separate) and $42 for a Lobster I had to make an effort to finish due to the horrible feel of undercooked lobster meat in my mouth. i should have specified "Well Done, please" when I ordered it.
We also didn't like dessert, it was a piece of dark sour chocolate. Beatifully presented but we are just not fans of dark chocolate. It came as a "on the house birthday surprise" for my wife. Not gonna say anything about it as even though we didn't like it, it was a nice touch from them and chocolate reviews depend on what kind of chocolate you like.
All in all, with those prices they charge for the food and the "reputation" they have, I don't expect anything short of spectacular on my plate, and let me tell you folks, Deepblu is a very, very, very, very, very, very long way from Starbucks. Very long. I'm now left wondering how they got the 12/13 dining award. I'm sure the critics didn't order the lobster! I regret to say I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone or for any reason. Place is nice, service is average, food is average. I guess I had a very high expectation and I just got a good dose of reality.
I don't think I'll ever go back (or anyone I know for that matter) to deepblu...
Read moreWe came the last hour they were open and service suffered a bit. Tables were dirty and uncleaned around us most of our meal. The food took considerably longer than it should have and our fresh catch swordfish was replaced with grouper, though we weren't made aware of this until the food was finished. Without being prompted, however, they comped our drinks, which was an appreciated gesture. Now! Onto the even nicer aspects of our meal- it was really good!! Surprisingly so, honestly! It happens we visited during the Orlando version of restaurant week and their course options were spectacular! Not a list of things that discourage you from the special menu, as was the case at a place we went last night.
The crabcake was PHENOMENAL. Just a delightful purely crab crabcake. I honestly couldn't identify another ingredient! The corn and crab chowder was also delicious! The grouper was delicious and the pork tenderloin fantastic! The grits were a delicious treat unto themselves! For dessert, the chocolate tart was as decadent and deeply chocolate as one could hope for; it wasn't overly sweet, either. I didn't try the cauliflower bread pudding, but my husband, who isn't well versed in food details said it tasted like meat somehow. Lol which is ironic considering the use of vegetables in the bread pudding! He didn't especially enjoy it. Our server told us it was a newer version of a recipe and that the older recipe had larger chunks of cauliflower which made the dessert too savory. Seems like the smaller sized bits didn't really change that. Still, overall, it was our favorite meal during our 7 nights at Disney World!
Oh, and I enjoyed the decor a lot. It is warm...
Read moreWasn't overly thrilled with the food, prices will average near 45 a person with out drinks or additions.
My wife ordered a fillet 8oz and asked for medium when it arrived it was definitely medium well to well done. Very little to no pink at all inside the steak and although the char was nice it was dry because of being overcooked. When the waitress came to the table she asked how the meal was and we let her know the steak was a bit over done. She asked if they could re cook it and we said no it wouldn't be necessary mainly because we didn't want to wait another twenty minutes. The waitress apologize and that was the end of it.
When we received the check it was a bit of a disappointment as they didn't even comp a ginger ale or anything. We paid full price for a steak that was 46 dollars with no sides.... Very dissatisfied and can safely say we wouldn't return. When two people pay a base price of 125 bucks for a meal it should be made with absolute precision and no mistakes. I suggest saving your money and go somewhere else.
I had stuffed lobster and as that was good and straight forward I still didn't find it to be a 49 dollar meal. Your paying for a high-end restaurant in a resort that's all it is...
I am giving two stars simply because the servers were as attentive as they could've been but the failure to address the overcooked steak and the high prices were insane. I say stay away! Read the comments they have never even tried to respond to anyone and clear up any miss...
