We have been here twice. The first time was for a quick meal solution. My husband ordered three tacos, choosing different protein offerings for each. I ordered Sopas with vegetables. The vegetables were frozen from a bag (broccoli, cauliflower, carrot) but, otherwise, this visit was a success. Plates came out fast and were hearty. I am told that the meats were sumptuous. The second time we returned to see if this can be a reliable semi-fresh Mex option. The verdict is mostly, "Yes." My husband ordered the Birrias Tacos which, for all intents and purposes, one would assume is their signature dish. (It is featured on the coveted far left of the meu and it is the most expensive offering.) He raved about both flavor and texture, but was left wanting in that the plate only delivers three tacos. They were generously dressed with the famous broth/sauce but didn't yield more food than a 3-taco plate. I ordered a Gordita with, again, the sub-par bag-veg. The fat corn cake was the absolute star of my brightly coloured plastic plate. I could eat this weekly if, may I suggest, there was a FRESH veg option. Maybe some tomato, zucchini and bell pepper chunks instead of the frozen crucifers? The sauce bar may only feature five sauces, but it is not to be underestimated. I have now tried all five and, while two are too Hot for liberal application, they are all worthy. With special recognition to the traditional Verde which was, on both visits, drink-ably fresh and chock full of...
Read moreI decided to come here because I was craving birria tacos. I saw the reviews & was impressed. It seems like a family oriented, decent sized restaurant with a lot of Mexican decor inside. The tacos & other items seem moderately priced.
The food: I went there the other day and ordered the birria tacos. THEY WERE AMAZING!!! The consume was plentiful & perfectly seasoned. They gave an ample amount of cilantro & onions. I think it was odd that they did not place my cilantro & onions inside the tacos. I think the tacos were fried (I could be wrong). Whatever they did to it, I loved it. The cheese was stringy for the perfect hang time for the photo-opps.
The drink: Unfortunately, I was not impressed with the drinks at Mexas. The horchata nor Jamaican hibiscus were homemade. The other drinks tasted a little watered down. I ordered the passion fruit & it was okay. Thankfully, the deliciousness & perfection of the tacos overshadowed the drinks issue.
Would I return? Absolutely! I do think if they improve their drinks, it would be a knockout & draw in even more people. The staff was very friendly & accommodating. The parking seems ample & the location is perfect for tourists in the...
Read moreI first came here about 6 months ago the tacos and tostada along with the salsa bar are why I like this place but I just returned the other day and I remembered the one thing I didn’t like was the size of the food and once again I was disappointed. I’m a small person I don’t eat that much but I mean these are Barbie sized tacos and tostadas. I feel bad leaving this but it really bothers me and someone else also mentioned it. Because it’s hard to find places with a salsa bar I think I will try their other location and see if the portion sizes are any better. Somehow the pics make the size look normal but in person OMG! So tiny. It’s a shame, I also believe they don’t have the salsa cups out on purpose because the lids are out but they only hand you a couple at a time, the salsas were low maybe it’s an inconvenience for the workers to keep it stocked or they’re trying to be cheap with the salsa too. So if you’re really hungry bring a lot of money to get full, what you normally eat won’t cut it here. Such a shame because it’s a cute little place, very convenient and the food tastes...
