Went during Restaurant week, I live in Kittery but just haven’t been before that and it was top of my wife’s list. Pros: The location is beautiful. It was still very cold so the outside seating hadn’t opened yet, but still a stunning view, better than any of the waterfront places in Portsmouth because you have a view of Portsmouth. Service was excellent as well, sat in the bar area, and the bartender was balancing a lot of guests but his service was spot on. Drinks were pricey $14 for a cocktail/ glass of wine, but the pours were generous so didn’t find that much fault with it. Though with desert I ordered a single of Oban 14- a pretty middle of the road Scotch and it was nearly $30 on the bill. I thought that was a bit absurd. My drawback on the place was that and the food. So I should cut them some slack Restaurant Week is not their normal menu. It wasn’t horrible, but walking out spending $150 on dinner the experience that I would say, “I want to do that again.” wasn't there. I had the charcuterie plate, and the items weren’t that interesting or even really fit. It felt like here’s a couple slivers of toast and some random lunch meats that were served with a pickled vegetable and a piece of honeycomb. My wife enjoyed her seafood pasta dish, and the pork shank was good, nothing exciting. A small piece of pork on a bed of well done mash and some roasted Brussels sprouts. The desert was excellent. So overall not horrible, and if you were a tourist in the area looking for the waterfront dining experience with an upscale feel, this is your place. As a local based on value, food quality, and execution probably wouldn’t be in my top 5 in the area but might...
Read moreWas disappointed with dinner here last night. Apparently the staff is all new so maybe suffering from “growing pains”. Certainly not up to last years staff. Service was very slow- missing set ups, repeatedly had to ask for water, check, etc.. I had lobster salad special- good portion of lobster but no seasoning- served on a sweet corn salad which wasn’t compatible with the lobster. A companion had the egg white linguini but was disappointed with the dish. A side of green beans with pistachios was over cooked and overly seasoned with the nuts. On the plus side, the calamari was great, fish and chips ok, desserts small for the price. Prices are reasonable and the location is outstanding- I might try it later in the season but there are a lot of restaurants in Portsmouth...
Read moreA group of business associates and I visited The Pointe for dinner and were very surprised at how friendly the staff and the owners were to 1st time patrons. It was like they'd known you forever.
The food was great! The wild salmon and steamed lobster were Amazing.
I highly recommend visiting The Point on Badger Island. It's a short jaunt from downtown Portsmouth. Be sure to speak to Jen and Kevin and ask about the history of Badger Island, how they were able to save the restaurant from being replaced with Condos, and their connection to the Kittery Trading Post. Oh, almost forgot - you'll want to ask Jen about Chainsaw carving! Great folks to visit!
An awesome experience! We'll definitely be back and bring more friends to meet our new friends at The...
