To whom it WILL concern,
I seldom write Google reviews, however I felt it a necessity following my previous visit. All I have to say is: unreasonably rude and profoundly unprofessional! My friends and I were having a laugh at some of the witty gifts (all very cute, I must admit…) when an extremely rude woman (whom I presume to be the establishment’s proprietor) made a snide remark to us while we were looking at a silly little box of novelty pencils— we were verbally accosted and forcibly expelled for simply looking at pencils (there was neither shrink wrap on the packaging nor flair on the text, as well as no distinctions on the walls of the store that it was against the rules to unsheath the sleeve of writing utensils— we were promptly scolded, and harshly so at that). I should note that it was not packed in traditional packaging, but rather in a sleeve that merely slides out of its sheath— who is to say that I, a prospective customer, am not in the right to inspect a product before buying it? Whatever happened to the customer always being right? What if you sold me an abhorrently ugly pencil? She then told us (rudely, might I add) that the store was closed without as much as a warning ahead of time before anybody had a chance to purchase their items. I guess God has his own special way of looking after each and every one of us— I was about to buy a most wondrous book about cocktails (quite a hoot, might I add) but luckily I was spared my hard earned money that I will better spend at an establishment of higher moral fiber. As much as I loved all of the products, I can say with confidence that I will never return to this shop.

Read moreI cannot lie! I came in here because we were visiting our daughter in New Hampshire and watching our 6 year old granddaughter for two weeks. We were coming back from visiting the Seacoast Science Center and had some extra time after lunch. Well she wanted to visit her big sister at work and where does big sister work? At Macro Polo. We were lucky enough to get a parking spot in the lot directly across the street and surprise our oldest granddaughter with a visit from us and her little sister.
Am I a bit biased because our granddaughter works here? Of course, but this place was amazing even if she didn't work here. They have all kinds of quirky gifts you just won't find anywhere else. Plus the staff working there when we went in (the owner and our granddaughter) were extremely nice and obviously enjoy working there. (OK - that was the biased part.)
If you are a tourist and want something that will truly remind you of your visit to Portsmouth, or if you are just looking for that oddball gift for a friend, this is a great...
Read moreJen, I’m happy I was able to donate $8 to a business that seems to be in need (after being forced to pay for 2oz hand sanitizer that was not intended to be purchased). I’ve never experienced such belittlement by someone who’s profession is to serve customers. Accusing someone of tampering with merchandise and then kicking the customer out of the store to only find out that the merchandise was completely sealed, deserves an apology. Not only that... you completely yelled at the customer and made them feel like they were a delinquent! And not only was the product paid for, you were able to keep the sealed product and most likely resell it. Honey, you’re in the wrong business, and judging by the previous reviews you should really reconsider your line of work. A cubicle where you don’t have to deal with people sounds like a profession for you. Note: had to add the 1 star to add my review description but you should get zero stars. Peace...
