Dog House Grill & Ice Cream Pawlor — Restaurant in Knox

We stopped in here from out of town on July 7th, 2025 around 7pm. For a Monday evening following a holiday weekend we were initially the only customers for a good portion of the time. It looked like an interesting place to find local down home food.

There were 2 girls working with one taking orders/serving and the other preparing/cooking the food. When we asked questions about the menu, we were misinformed, both girls Quickly letting us know that they had not been there very long and didn’t know much about the menu or what came on the menu items.

One of the items we ordered was a Coney cheese dog, where we We’re told that there would be a dollar up charge for each of the coney sauce as well as the cheese. Not only would you think these items were both included considering it is the name of the menu item apparently it did not. The posted up-charge menu price was $.50 for each of those additional toppings, yet we were charged $1 each, even though they should should’ve come on the menu item initially.

The kids cheeseburger was sent back for not having the correct toppings and for being undercooked, only to return still undercooked and still without the proper toppings.

Again, we paid the additional up-charge of $2 Instead of the menus posted price to add cheese and coney sauce to a Chicago dog basket (Mondays Daily Special) It arrived at the table with neither of them as well.

The food was OK however, our order was sent back four times. Wrong toppings, incorrect drinks, undercooked food, and it still wasn’t correct by the time we gave up and decided just to make another stop for fast food elsewhere. Disappointing for what seemed to be a place with so...

I ordered 3 chicago dogs 1 French fry, sampler platter and 3 scoops ice cream. Came to 26 ish dollars. Drove a distance home. Looked in bag and they did not have te sampler platter ( we were really counting on that). Well the hot dogs were cold in the middle and the bun was cold and not steamed or warmed. We put in microwave 30sec and was fine. Fries were fine. I called and told her and she informed me she did not hear me order ther platter and I asked if the food we got was really almost 30.00.3 chicago dogs and an order of fries and 3 scoops ice cream. We learned the hard way at our expense and we will never go their again. I did not tell her at the time the dogs were cold because the first thing I did was call as soon as I saw no platter. I wished her luck because it will be another shop closing soon...

I don't live around here, but I stopped in and was presently suprised. Husband and I had the smash burger one with fries and the other with onion rings. Burger reminded me of a homemade burger, and the fries were basic. What shined big time for me was the onion rings. I only have one other place that I use to go for onion rings and that was Bru burger. These were by far better than Bru burger. The food was served hot. The buns were not soggy at all. If I'm passing through again I would definitely stop in again. Staff was polite and it was a quaint little place. Enjoyed it very much.
