Wish I could leave 0 stars!! My family and I had been regular customers at the Cheddarâs West Knox location since they opened several years ago, but around the Fall of 2018 something seriously changed at that location and not for the better. I donât know if the management changed or what but the food is still OK but the service really started to slip. About 4 months ago, we went for dinner and the service was worse than usual. Our waiter took our order and then disappeared for about 30 minutes. During that time our food arrived and we had to ask other servers for condiments, etc. Our waiter finally came back and explained that he âhad to help an elderly gentleman to his carâ. We didnât see any elderly people sitting in his section, but we decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. However, he promptly disappeared again right after this to the point that we again had to get up and hunt down other servers for drink refills, etc. We probably should have asked for a manager, but at this point we just wanted to leave. Our server finally showed up long enough to bring us our bill so we just paid and left, vowing never to return again. However, last night my 9 year old son was really wanting Cheddarâs ribs so we decided to give them one more chance. BIG MISTAKE! It was a Thursday night so they really werenât that busy and we were seated right away. We sat there looking over our menus and deciding what we wanted to order, waiting for someone to come take our order. We waited, and waited, and waited but no one ever came to our table. Two waitresses passed by our table several times to wait on other customers around us, but completely ignored us. After 15 minutes my husband tracked down the hostess and told her what was going on. She assured him she would send someone to our table immediately. We waited and waited some more. The same two waitresses kept passing us by without even a glance in our direction, waiting on the tables behind us and even directly across from us. After another 15 minutes had passed we finally got up to leave. We asked to speak to the manager at the hostess station and explained to him exactly what had happened. To his credit, he did apologize and offer to âmake things rightâ, but at this point we were too angry and just left. This time we will absolutely NEVER,...
Read moreWonderful service, very good food, and only about 5minute wait, which was at 12:45pm when we got there from church from Pleasant Ridge Rd. I had the jumbo coconut coated shrimp with a sweet, slightly tangy dip,and french fries. I absolutely Loved the shrimp and the sauce!!! There were 8 shrimp, and I ended up taking 3 home, they even have me extra sauce to take home, too!! The French fries were ok,and they gave me a Lot of them. I could've also had the slaw that came with meal but I didn't get it purely because I just didn't want slaw. They offered to double the fries in place of slaw but I declined it,too. Just not wanting to eat a lot of fries. As it was, I took home about half the fries I Did get. Our table of 4 adults and 2 toddlers were well taken care of and our server ( and I m sorry I forget her name) was Super nice, friendly, and helpful. Our food was delivered in a timely manner, not too long a wait. The other's meals were satisfactory, with only complaint about the southern style green beans which were more salty than was liked, but not bad enough to send back. The children: 1 got a cheeseburger & fries, and the other got chicken fingers and fries. All their food was eaten except for the burger, mainly because more interested in watching favorite cartoons on cell phone. The burger looked fine, just wasn't interesting enough. If you have a toddler, then you probably know this happens. Two of the adults ordered an alcoholic drink that was served fairly quickly. They were in HUGE glasses!! One of the adults didn't like their drink because they felt was too salty, after a few sips and told our server so she ordered another, different drink which she was NOT Charged for! No hassles about returning a drink at all. The children were in booster seats that were provided when asked for as we were seated. The table was clean, the booth seats were also clean with no stickiness or food on them. All of the restaurant we saw was clean. Atmosphere was good overall and not overly noisy. There wasnt a vestibule full of customers waiting to be seated,we just walked it without a reservation and we're almost immediately seated. We weren't rushed to leave by staff, and we enjoyed a nice, leisurely lunch. My friends and I will Definitely go back...
Read moreIâm sorry to leave this review because I actually love Cheddars, but tonightâs service was not great.
Summary: Hosts are flat in attitude and our server, Tonya G, was fake, had other servers run food and drinks, laughed when I asked for a box, and didnât bring back or ask if we wanted change. We still tipped 20% of course but kinda disappointed. (I did check to make sure she wasnât busy. She only had two other tables that already had food.)
Itâs was a Tuesday night and me and my friend just got off work at 8:30 and went across the street to Cheddarsâs. Upon entering, the host did not greet us. We tried to be friendly but she remained flat. We were seated immediately and everything looked very nice and clean. Our waitress was Tonya G. She didnât greet us till about five minutes had passed so we ordered our food with the drinks. A different man came out to bring the drinks (2 waters with lem). He was an older man, very nice and friendly. Seemed to be vibing with himself. I hoped heâd end up being our server :) But alas, Ms. Tonya G was. A different server brought out the food and she followed behind with the second plate, asked if we needed anything else and then disappeared for the rest of the night. She never came back to ask us how our food was, never checked on her other tables, and didnât come back until we pressed the call server button. After another minute she showed up and my friend payed with cash. She didnât ask if she wanted change. We waited some more and she didnât come back. We stopped her when she walked by and asked for a box. (By then my friend gave up on the change.) The waitress then laughed and didnât say anything. She left and came back with a box and that was the last we saw of her. All in all, this is her job and I know how it can be, but I made sure to judge her fairly by looking around at the other tables and seeing if she had a lot, was sat outside her section, or was possibly overwhelmed. At the end, I still tipped over $5 on $12 and called it a night. She didnât insult me or make me angry but she sure did seem strange. :/
Hopefully it was just a one off, but please be kind to those being...
