Ms. Jackie has made my families tummies very happy and full. Let me start off by saying I was quite skeptical of this place not only because of the location but because I'm not normally one to go in places that I'm not familiar with to eat. But I read all the reviews and I am so glad that I did go. We started off our meal with an order of fried green tomatoes, And may I just say they were the best I've ever had! Not to mention the tomato? pickled?chutney style Jam that came with them was to die for! Our grandson who is almost 2 years old and an extremely picky eater even ate the fried green tomatoes! We were actually both shocked! My partner had a hamburger (served on toasted white bread and very large) and french fries (lots of them), I had a fried bologna sandwich (served on white toast and very very thick cut)with fried okra (to die for) and our grandson had chicken leg and mashed potatoes. I tried my grandsons chicken and damn it was GREAT !! That will be what I will get next time i go! We all loved the food. I'm not sure that loved is the best word to use, perhaps orgasmicly pleased is more appropriate. š As if all the food wasn't enough, then came part 2 of our foodgasm when we ate the cinnamon bun cake. OMG.!! Before we left Ms. Jackie came out and talked to us and made us feel like part of the Jackie's Dream Family. She also said it was fine if our grandson ran around, that she wanted kids to feel like they were at grandma's house !!!Truly all I can say is I have found a new weekly dinner spot and couldn't be happier about it !! Thank you so much Ms. Jackie and...
Ā Ā Ā Read more"My Jackie's Deram Turned Into A Nightmare " I took my sister to Jackie's Dream for her birthday today. I ordered the Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and Macaroni & cheese and she ordered the porkchop with pinto beans and greens. We both ordered cornbread and sweet tea. The service was excellent and the tea was delicious! Now for the nightmare....while we're waiting for our food, in walks a family of 5 along with 2 dogs and they proceeded to sit down at the table next to us. I asked if we could move to another table. Please understand, I've been around service dogs before. However, these were not service dogs. Nevertheless, we moved to another table. Now for the food. We received our food. My mashed potatoes and gravy was dry and had hard scorched pieces in them and the Mac & cheese was dry. I looked at the porkchop on my sisters plate and it looked hard and dry. She couldn't even cut it with the knife. Finally, she picked it up and broke off a piece and proceeded to eat it. So, I asked her how was her porkchop. She replied " it's hard and so dry and tasteless." It was very thin and fried to death. She said that the porkchop was "DOA" and then "Cremated.". We took the porkchop home to my dog and the dog wouldn't even eat it! Now, this is my question: I know that this place is closed on Monday and Tuesday and open from Wednesday through Sunday...are you reusing leftover veggies from Sunday? Because that's exactly what the veggies and that thin, dried out porkchop looked and tasted like. I have always enjoyed everything I have ever eaten from here...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFinally got to Jackie's Dream to eat. It's a small soul food place in North Knoxville. We went in and took a seat and Derana waited on us. We got some of the sweetest sweet tea I ever drank but it was seriously good. I got a breast and a wing meal. The chicken is made fresh so it's about 15 minutes to get it but so worth the wait. The breading is top notch and very flavorful. I picked the skin and breading off of every crevice I could get my fat finger in on the breast. It's incredibly hot and juicy upon delivery and steam rolls out of it as you go to town on it. The wing is equally phenomenal and so tasty. It's hard to wait for it to cool it's so dang good. The okra is next level! A salty thick breading on fresh flavorful okra. Truly a southern delight. The mac & cheese is exactly what it should be in soul food joint. Cheesy creamy macaroni goodness. Lastly a big hunk of warm southern corn bread. When I was done the only thing left on my plate was a chicken skeleton. Unfortunately to full for dessert but next time I'm getting a banana pudding. My fiancee and kids were all very satisfied with their meals. The kids loved the mac & cheese. It was an exceptional dining experience and absolutely worth a visit. A lot of food and very reasonably priced. Jackie is very sweet and checked on us. Very nice to our kids. It's really a hidden gem in...
