Newk's Eatery — Restaurant in Knoxville

Clean, family friendly, prompt friendly service, and nice outside eating area. They have a counter to order at and they give you a number to put on your table, you pick were to sit and they bring your food to the table when its ready. Make sure to visit the 'round table' for toppings to add to your meal. Today was the first time we ever ate at a Newk's. I had the Newk's Q Pizza and my husband had Combo 1/2 Royal Sandwich and cup of the days soup lobster and crab bisque. The pizza is a good size personal (6 slices) or good to share with someone if you get sides. Crust was thin which was very nice could have been a little more crispy. Could use more tomato, next time I'll order extra. Overall taste was very good. The 1/2 sandwich seemed a bit small in size, there was a good amount of meat on it, could have used more vegetables (now we know so next time will order extra lettuce and tomato), the bread was very good. I convinced my office to order lunch from the Kingston Pike location and I am so embarrassed to have done so. We had an order for 6 people. Most orders were correct but some were prepared incorrectly. When we picked up the order the cashier was rude to my co-worker. Those can be over-looked but the quality of food, of each order, was horrid. My taco salad was lettuce, cheese ans chilli to dump on it, that's not a taco salad. The pasta salad was dry and bland. My co-worker's mac & cheese was described as "water and mayo over pasta". Another one ordered a Philly and said "thank God I got extra mayo, thats the only way I could eat it". My manager ordered reluctantly stating she had 2 previous bad experiences and said this was another awful meal and would never go back. My husband and I ate here this evening. Oct. 18, 2017. It was out first time here. The menu is posted on the wall right as you enter. Not knowing if they seat you or you order first we passed by the menu. The girl at register wasn't helpful at all. I had to ask her many questions which would have let her know we had never been there before. Finally we figured what we wanted and ordered. I used their restroom which believe it or not did NOT have running water to wash your hands inside the restroom, but was outside the next to where you enter the restrooms. Our $22 dollar meal came out to us, the salad looked and tasted old and wilted, my husband's sandwich was so small and a tiny cup of mixed fruit. They didn't even tell us they had a small bar where you could customize your food with other items. We left there with a bad experience, and won't be recommending this place to anyone.
