Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Knoxville

We went to hopefully have a great night for shakes with our son and after setting in bay #5 foot 25 min and no one taking our order we see the girl with the headgear to take orders walk out and set and have a smoke break. While my fiancé waited another 4 min before he decided to take my advice and go threw drive thru window the girl that takes orders made the guy in front of us wait til she was done smoking before she took his drivethru order and then when we pull up to place ours (as she is still setting on her behind with headgear on and smoking her cigarette outside and watches us pull up to drivethru) she tells us she will be with us in a moment. We wait another 4 minutes and finally get to place our long waited milkshake night out. We get to drive thru window(while at this time being a redhead I am furious but still don’t say a word) we wait for them to get our shakes ready and the girl forgets the straws. Well my fiancé tried to get her attention for a minutes and cause she had to walk back over to give us three straws(that she forgot) it makes her mad. So she hands him three straws very hatefully and instead of saying sorry or have a great night, she very rudely hands the straws to him and says nothing! So our 5 min shake night turned into a 45 min drive thru from hell!!! This is not the first time it has happened either. Two days ago we stopped at same sonic for dinner and it was a long wait as well. Most horrible place for a drivethru sonic… where is the manager??? Worst...

I’ve been going to this location for about a decade and a half and I can state unequivocally this is the single weakest crew it’s ever had. It’s been the way for months and months.

Sunday night is the absolute worst. Tonight Drive thru with 2 cars in front of me. 21 minutes. 11 of those minutes sitting at the speaker waiting to order. Never got to order and I finally drove just off. Here’s the kicker: it wasn’t even busy. It was close to dead. I’m more forgiving when it’s busy. I’ve served food and know how it is. Employee sitting perched out front as I was driving away.

I had to drive away Friday too and the Sunday before (over 20 minutes with no order rule). I try to avoid Sunday nights because I figured out it’s a huge time suck. Circumstance brought me to this Sonic two Sunday’s in a row otherwise I’d have been elsewhere. Three visits sucked up over an hour of my time (20+ minutes each time) and I couldn’t even order. Sunday nights used to be really busy at the FC Sonic. Now it’s slow and we still can’t get served.

Free advice: if you don’t have the staff to operate a shift, Sunday nights being the most obvious one, then don’t operate. This location shut down on some evenings for lack of people post-Covid because it was the smart thing to do. That’s what you should be going now.

It was A nice day that day and when we went was at night and there was people there and they seem to be enjoying the food so we said why not .This was the first in town for us In 25 years because the truck broke down and we didn't have AWAu to get a part to fix her.Anyway there we was at tha Sonic and we didn't know you talked into a sign to order the food that came out the door over yonder but it did.So girl a,on rollers come up pair said what y'all just setin there for.Well we a GETTIN ready to talk into that there sign and see what comes out ovet.So ooza,what you doin on roller around here and they got and cow in that place overs there .I see em come out with what looks like food but it looks to small to have a cow in there meet and milk and such coming out that little door I seen people in there looks like there a Talkin bout SOMETHAN cause the one sounds mad and the otherns just shake there heads up and down I guess that means ok or they don't like hisa hollern.But I was an adventure at you place we spent all day there figern things out a Talkin into a sign we SOMETHAN else and them girls on them rollers they was SOMETHAN else .I z waiting on one ofvoom to fall down and iza GOINA laugh but they diden.notcat toll narry a one did well your place was good if u HAVE all day to spend there.we did .A happy customer IFIN you...
