I've been coming to Kure Beach for many years with my family. My daughter is a picky eater but she enjoys the food at the diner as we all do. When planning a trip to come to Kure Beach we always mention going to the diner.. It's always been kind of our spot, and just as much a part of the trip as the ocean or the pier or anyting.
Yesterday we went in around lunch time and I ordered food (two sandwiches) for takeout to take back to the room nearby where we were staying.I waited a short time and everything was delicious.
Today I also went to order take out at about 11:30 am, before lunch. It was not crowded, and there were seats available. At the register, when I mentioned I was there to place a takeout order, I was very rudely informed that they refused to enter my takeout order and told me to come back another time.
Every experience I, and my family have ever had there had been very good. I'm shocked that they gruffly refused service to someone simply for wanting to place an order. I was neat and clean and dressed appropriately.
The rude lady that refused me service today was not there yesterday. I've since been told that she is possibly the owner... I don't know. If so, that's definitely not a good indication of where this diner is headed. So sad.
There was no reason for this. Booooooo Kure...
Read moreThis place is absolutely AMAZING! It is located right at the Kure Beach Pier. Our family called ahead due to having issues finding a place (without a bar atmosphere) that could seat 11 patrons. They advised us that they could accommodate the # in our group and of their closing time. We arrived literally 15 mins before closing, they seated us ALL anyway. They were VERY pleasant when taking our orders and VERY accommodating. The food was all very fresh and included a lot of homemade recipes. We found this is a family owned restaurant and this family is amazing! We ordered a huge variety from the menu to include fried chicken, seafood, BBQ and breakfast (the strawberry homemade - biscuit was out of this world). I truly believe God sent us to this restaurant. I have never been to a restaurant where the workers seemed so pleasant and accommodating when so close to closing. They actually have pictures of the owner and chef when they were children on the walls. They were wonderful with our grandbabies. It's very tempting to take the 2 1/2 hour drive just to revisit this place. You will truly miss out on a great experience if you don't take the time to visit. Tell them we said hello when...
Read moreCute little spot right by the pier. Maybe 15 tables in the restaurant. Nice menu with breakfast and lunch options. I think everyone could find something they like on the menu. They even have a few beers and mixed drinks. Service was good, server was friendly and helpful. I wanted pancakes so just ordered a few blueberry pancakes. I didn't like them. They were pretty dry, kind of gritty and just boring. There was maybe 4 or 5 blueberries in each pancake, even tho I was charged $1 extra per pancake for ordering blueberry. You'd think that would get you more than 4 blueberries. The French toast was no better. It was really wet inside and burnt on the outside. I was happy we tried it but I wouldn't eat here again, at least not breakfast. My husband had wanted cracker barrel breakfast because we know it's good. I suggested this place because it was closer and I had heard all good things. After we left he said I never get to pick a new place again 😆 he said this $40 breakfast cost more than you think because now we won't be trying any more new spots for a while hahah. Oh yeah. It was $40 (included tip) for us to have pancakes, French...
