I have been going here for probably 15+ years. Breakfast burritos fantastic. Their hot sauce and spicy carrots on point.
Breakfast burrito 10/10: i get mine with ham. Its the best in town. Their hot sauce pairs so well with the breakfast burrito not so much on the carne imo for some reason.
Hot sauce 10/10: i remember i ended up using like half a bottle in a burrito and the mom and her friend were just shocked lol. Its that good.
Spicy carrots 10/10: i dont know how it can be so different than other places, but its just so much better than others and a small baggy is free with the order.
Atmosphere 9/10: parking can be hard esp if you follow 7-11's tyrant rule that they basically own all the spots.
Service 10/10: family shop style service.
Price $: ~$10 pretty standard, but their burritos are quite large.
Note: i pan toast all of my burritos at home so the picture shows a...
Read moreSan Diego is widely regarded for having great Mexican food, this is not a place that you should add to the list. I would argue that this was some of the worst Mexican food I have ever had. The rice was old and stale. My favorite kind of meat is Cabeza, so I was excited when I got a Cabeza burrito. It tasted like it had been sitting in cold fat for a day, and there was old fat all over the meat. The tortilla was slightly warmed up and not good at all. The tacos my girlfriend got were covered in old guacamole that tasted rotten and had the same problems as the other meats, old and cold. Also had cheese in the tacos which in my opinion is a sign of a very whitewashed restaurant.
Staff was nice, which is why I feel bad even writing this review, but when I was looking for a good spot in La mesa kind of just looked at reviews and just picked this place. Don’t make the same...
Read moreThis is a smaller taco shop with a smaller menu, but with the main items you would expect. There's mainly indoor seating, with some outdoor seating. The staff is nice, and the food came out pretty quick after ordering.
Although there are reasonable prices, the food wasn't that stellar. I got the #2, 2 cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. The combos also come with a canned soda, which isn't a bad deal. The food did look nice, but sadly, it was pretty bland. The rice and beans had good texture and were cooked well, but no flavor at all. The red sauce for the enchiladas had some flavor, but not as good as elsewhere. The salsa did help a bit, but I shouldn't have to pour it on.
Overall, the food is just okay, but...
