I went to Jack in the box for a quick snack...the line was really long so I parked and went into HBHC. As I walked in, one other customer also entered. We were the only two customers. There were two employees, one obviously newer than the other. Both were very nice and polite. Great job on customer service. I only wanted a small snack but it seemed my only option was to order 3 sliders, which I did (ham and swiss cheese). It took a little over 10 minutes for my sliders to be ready. I thanked them and went to my car to eat. Had I not been out of time and very, very hungry, I probably would have returned them. As I opened the paper that they were wrapped in, I immediately noticed that they were sopping "wet" in what appeared to be a butter garlic sauce. I mean , not just some on the bread, it was totally sopped. I tried to take a bite and juice ran downy hand and arm. Against all manners that I was taught, I shoved the rest of the slider into my mouth to stop it from leaking all over me. I could barely see the ham and cheese and sure couldn't taste them. I ended up giving the other two sliders away and dispute several hand washings, for the rest of the afternoon I reeked of garlic and was still hungry. I paid over $11 for the three sliders, only ate one. No chips, no drink. I personally will not go back to try again. Wish I had taken a picture but really didn't want my phone greasy and smelling...
Read moreThe service at the La Mesa store was very good - I give a 5 for service. It looked like a long line, but they really treated everyone well and got that line down quickly. The meat is very tasty. However, from ham that cost basically $63 I got enough for one and a half slices of ham per person. I have plenty for soup (2.8 lbs), I have plenty for sandwiches (2.2 lbs), I can feed the wild animals (.8 lbs) but after taking the fat off (which meant a lot of the crispy brown sugar went away from much of the slices) I was left with a paltry amount of table worthy ham - and that, by the way, is putting nice slices and small 2x3 slices as considered fine to serve. This was my first Honey Baked Ham and perhaps my expectations were too high, but it's back to Costco for me next time. Oh, did I say it took almost an hour to cut everything up and get the good ham ready for tomorrow. Somehow I thought I just heated and served. Thank goodness I opened it and looked!!! What a mess I...
Read moreWe cooked the ham and a side for Christmas Day dinner and were amazed at how easy and delicious it was. The ham was absolutely perfect and did not need any additional seasoning in my opinion.
We also tried the Sweet Potato Soufflé, which was also yummy. However, if you prefer a thicker sweet potato, I would recommend adding your own mashed sweet potato to the mix before sticking it in the oven since it was a bit watery. We also topped it with marshmallows for added sweetness.
Also worth noting that we picked up our order the day before Christmas Eve and we did not experience any long lines or waiting time. We were in and out in less than 10 minutes.
We enjoyed it and I definitely recommend the...
