Despite the delicious food, I just had an extremely uncomfortable and degrading experience when I tried to bring my food back. I have eaten here at least 30 times and have even bought gift cards but will not come back no matter how much I am craving shrimp teriyaki. I ordered myself the usual and my husband a shrimp and steak teriyaki. It comes with a side of cooked vegetables, which I have never tried because I'd rather have extra rice. My husband asked for veggies with his, and fried rice. I explicitly asked if there was onions in any of it (he is allergic) abs was told FIRMLY no, no, no, no onion. I get home, and the vegetables( Aside from being a stewed soggy mess) are loaded with onions. I live 15 miles away from LA Plata, but felt terrible that my man had nothing to eat (cause I devoured most of mine en route) that I just drove all the way back to ask for fresh food with no veggies. I told them he is allergic. The woman at the counter acted like I ate half of it and wanted a full refund. I just wanted new rice and new steak. She said no and would only give me the same rice in a to go. I said NO are you kidding? And then told her I just drove back up from Newburg. The owner (who is very nice but did not say anything about it) walked in at that moment and she slammed the food down, screamed at the cook to make a new steak and rice and then while I had to wait 5 minutes SCREAMED in a foreigners language about me the whole time. I used to work at an Asian hair salon and got very good at deciphering what was being whispered behind my back but this was another level. She shouted over and over was so angry about it and then her voice went up into a high pitched mimicked tone as she made fun of me. I was so humiliated, so extremely uncomfortable, and I could tell everyone else was too (patrons and workers). I felt shamed and my face was burning (the first time I was grateful about mask mandates). I almost bolted out of there with nothing, that's how ridiculous it was. I listened to this woman's irate tirade for 5 minutes and will never step foot this side of the shopping center again. So yes, great food, but if you are unsatisfied, definitely NOT worth bringing ANYTHING back. I'm very upset . I can no longer eat at my favorite take out place and was just berated in public like the lowest form of human trash, so lost some dignity as well. Japan Express has lost a very loyal...
Read moreIt takes a lot for me to post a review, I Ordered the following. spring rolls, 5 pcs sushi roll, 8 pcs sushi roll, ragoon, and teriyaki with veggies
Spring rolls were ok, tasted like the ones from Costco
5pcs roll didn't have much protein and the actual roll was small like they cut a full roll in half and then cut it again.
8pcs roll again, small hardly any protein
Rangoon was decent but didn't come with dipping sauce
Teriyaki was mostly rice with a small amount of sauce, watered-down cabbage and 4 pieces of broccoli.
I understand suggestive and upselling but check your order before paying, the cashier input the incorrect quantity twice during my order taking which I noticed and asked her to correct. She did try to sell me a larger sushi platter after noticing the errors, which I had to decline...
Read moreThe teriyaki tofu here is so, so good. This place is a good value for the large portions, the veggies are never under or overcooked like some places!
I call ahead now, makes the already short wait time even shorter. I'm also a fan of their covid related new procedures, glad to see they're taking it seriously.
Their yum yum sauce is really delicious as a dipping condiment, don't forget to ask for it. Sushi has been tasty the few times I've ordered some but since the regular meal is so large(definitely have leftovers even if I was hungry) it's not necessary to get extra sides to be full!
Friendly staff and great prices make this place a win for a very fast and...
