I must say I’m very disappointed I frequented this restaurant back in the early 1990s when I lived in the area. When I say frequent, I mean it was a once or twice a week visit. In 1992 I was as pregnant with my baby son who is now 27 and this place was my guilty pleasure.. my craving food. Fast forward to today I happened to be in the area in which it’s been many years and seen the restaurant was still there and open. I was too excited to return for dinner this evening with my now elderly mother whom also ate many of meals here.
We arrived at 6:08pm ish and walked in . I sat down as I realized it was cool so walked out leaving my mother at the table to grab a jacket out of my truck . I returned in less then 2 minutes and chips and Salsa was on the table.. after that service all remaining service was NON- Existent . We sat there until 6:24 without anyone asking to take our drink order or speaking to us period . So, needless to say we walked out and the “waitress” said “Thank You” .. I was shocked and very disappointed! Needless to say I want to one of there competitors in the area within 2 minutes of being seated we had a drink order with in another 2 minutes our order was being taken and with on another 2 minutes we had bread at our table! Let me also mention there was a total of 7 people on your restaurant when we arrive where here there is approx 25 to 30...
Read moreThe service was great to start off. Chips & Salsa is good. If it was thicker sauce. Then it would have been a perfect way to start off. The Carne Guisada plate was a let down. $20 for watery sauce with a little bit meat. If you're going to charge an absurd amount. Put some more food. Other restaurants charge less and add way more meat. The rice taste like school cafeteria mexican rice. Refried beans are refried beans. Nothing to complain about. 3 flour tortillas come with your dish. My wife's fajita burrito was more bang for your buck. Burrito is drenched in cheese with rice and beans. The fajita was a bit overcooked. Still pretty decent. Overall the experience is moderate. Not to flashy nor piss poor. Also on Saturdays, there is a live...
Read moreThis is a nice, clean, quiet place with good food. We met here Monday night and had a quiet birthday dinner with a young family couple. The booths are roomy, seat cushions are in good condition, and food is great. The food was delicious, but the main meal did take longer than expected to come to the table. It was sooo good with lots of cheese. I love spicy salsa, and the salsa served needed more pepper "heat". Even the pickled, sliced jalapenos I order were tamed. It was all good. I left stuffed like their delicious Fried Avocado. Yummy! We stayed talking and visiting, and "closed" the restaurant down. The restrooms were very nice and clean. I loved its decor. I don't live in LaPorte, but this is one of my favorite...
