This is by far the nicest HEB I have been in! The specialty departments are beyond EXCELLENT! The Bakery makes some of the most wonderful, rich, decadent cakes I have EVER tasted in my life. They are almost as beautiful as they are tasty! The variety of items their Bakery offers is mind blowing to say the least! Many items look like they belong on the front of an expensive gourmet food magazine and taste even better! This HEB also has a floral department that makes arrangements that could also be on the cover of a magazine! The florists HEB hires are beyond excellent. The fresh fruit and vegetable department is enormous and very well kept! There is a large variety of organic fruits and vegetables. Also included in this amazing HEB is a huge delicatessen with every variety of meats and cheeses you can think of! There is also a pretty decent sized fresh seafood department. If you enjoy drinking fine wines, this is YOUR HEB! The variety blows my mind every time I visit. They also offer wine tasting at different times of the month. One of the many things that really makes this HEB stand out is the huge kitchen that is raised up for all to see while professional chefs cook many different items from products sold right there in the store. They have microphones which really makes watching them cook a fun experience! The TASTING of all the foods they are cooking is my favorite part! I have purchased the items needed to cook many of the dishes I have tasted and was able to recreate the wonderful flavors right at home! I definitely want to mention how the entire staff in this HEB are extremely nice a helpful every single time I have ever needed their help! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this HEB located on East Blvd. at Spencer Hwy to anyone who wants a unique experience that no other store...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUsually Hā¢Eā¢B is a good place to shop, except apparently on a Sunday night. They were missing several items that are usually available, and almost no employees were available to answer questions or help out. Actually, we didnt buy much food due to missing products.
The bakery on the other hand has some lazy folk working in it all the time. I arrived for the sole purpose of buying a cake, their bakery closes at 8PM but has stuff out to grab-and-go. I waved one staff member over who was passing by. Guy ignored me. Well... OK. I was going to ask about which cake was which. I dont like whip cream icing, but buttercream is pretty good. So, I decided I wanted the cake in their display. Opened it up and grabbed the one I wanted. Couldn't find a lid, but the manager came over to help out and we rigged one up with the use of the wrong lid and a bunch of stickers to secure it. I went back the next day to get the cake I was originally sent to get, the kid behind the counter couldn't answer questions, told me he couldn't add sprinkles to the cake at all, then changed to couldn't add sprinkles without an extra fee. Well... OK, tell me how much the HEB cake sprinkles fee be! He didnt know. So, I encouraged him to learn. After several minutes of being gone, he came back and told me he was wrong. Sprinkles are a free addition. After approximately 10 minutes, I received my grab-and-go cake (white with buttercream icing) with sprinkles.
Seems the closer they get to closing time, the less their staff like to work. That's a no-go.
Unless the closer it is to closing time the less HEB is paying them, and I'm paying corresponding less for items, they can work to the end of their shift. That includes stocking shelves on...

This review is the combination of three negative events on this same day.
HEB associate drops a can of Dr. Pepper and covers me wth Dr Pepper because she was distracted talking with another HEB associate. HEB Cashier completely screws up my check-out by first forgetting to charge me for my 8 cases of diet coke (I made her aware of her mistake) and then over-charges me for 12 watermelons (I didn't find out until I arrived at my home). After calling, I was forced to return to the store to get the issue resolved. When I arrived, there was no one to help. I was already not happy. When they finally showed up, I only said a few words (basically, "I have a return" and "cash" when asked how I wanted the refund, and that was it). Before leaving, the manager asked me to stop and sarcastically said thank you. I felt like it was an attempt to escalate the situation instead of de-escalating.
If it was just 1 & 2, then this review would not exist. Actually, if the manager had just kept her mouth shut, then I would have just written it off...
