Wok & Roll — Restaurant in La Porte

I have fond childhood memories of the wok & rolls that used to be in the Chicago area and their great fried rice so when I saw this one I couldn't help, but try it out. I got an orange chicken special, but to my dismay it only came with yellow rice (I forgot they don't come with fried rice by default.) the food is at least presented well although the portions are much smaller than you'd typically get at these types of restaurants... especially for the price I paid.

The orange chicken was crunchy and dry with very little taste of orange in it if at all. The rice was not bad and I'd argue better than white rice, but nowhere near the level of fried rice. It was a decent meal, but I doubt I'll go back for seconds and will stick with just the fried rice in the future (if it is still what I remember.) I definitely can see why these places closed...

Not as happy with service as I was before. I walk everywhere so I stopped in to order. Was told I had to call first for pick up. Was there the week before and wasnt told that and they said it's been like that forever. Whatever. So I said, ok so I'll just step outside this door and call you and that will be ok? It was freezing and snowing. They went ahead and took my order but I was annoyed that they even said that to me. Just not as good as they used to be.....if I had to compare the food to the service I'd say the food is better. Hire friendlier employees and train them better. If one of my customers had this problem or something similar I would have done all I could to just make them happy and pleased with...

Love Wok n Roll. They have been a welcome staple in the community for years. They are quick and efficient, polite, the food is good and decently priced.

Just ordered last night and was highly satisfied. Pork egg rolls (highly recommend dipping in the dumpling sauce), Szechuan Chicken with house special fried rice, and shrimp fried rice. All delicious, plentiful, and reasonably priced for the sheer amount you get. Egg rolls were super crispy and delicious, and the added custom extras in the shrimp fried rice were delicious and plentiful.

My family will continue to frequent for this...
