Putting this into perspective: This is a smaller place with less traffic than a usual restaurant.
I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and a side of bacon Mac n cheese. The pulled pork was good not to dry with a very good smokey taste. The sandwich bread didn't have spread and it was a little dry, but I'll give them credit for using a light amount of BBQ sauce. I hate BBQ sauce because people soak their food in it and it defeats the purpose. Here they use it well. Sandwich was $7 and it left me satisfied.
However, the bacon Mac n cheese was okay. They do have a nice spicy kick to them but they are not creamy enough. Mac n cheese needs to be thick and creamy (the cheese portion). This side is pretty small with a price tag of $3... It's hard to defend the price based on the flavor alone.
I tried my friend's fries that he ordered with his chili cheeseburger. The fries were over seasoned and tastes like Lawry's seasoning salt.
The ambience of the restaurant is modern industrial meets rustic old people. Service was good and friendly. Clearly this BBQ restaurant was designed with a bar at it's core. They have local brewed beers with a $7 price tag for 16oz a little pricey, but it is local beer...
If you are in the area, and really in the mood for BBQ then try it out. Yet, this place is not...
Read moreGot our food and drinks and it seemed like our waitress was done with us. My wife repeatedly waived to get her attention for a ice t refill to whichwe had been ignored. Oh by the way they charge you $1 for a refill. $4 tea by the check came. Clearly she is in need of customer service training. We had the brisket and eggs breakfast and the eggs and bricks hash. The brisket had no flavor like it was cooked in the oven. No smoke rings, no dry rub. It needed the sauce at our table badly. I had the brisket hash that had so much fat that I set it aside on my plate and almost took a picture of it to post. On top of the pathetic portion of brisket in my meal. Friggin shavings scraped off the cutting board!!! Theres no meat in this dish that was $14!!! Over priced,Tasteless bootlleg barbecue with piss poor waitresses. Bottom line the waitresses need training in the worst way and so does the chef trying to pass this off as barbecue. Can you imagine if a food critic came in to this establishment!!??? Spend your money in a quality restaurant like Lucille's,Famous Daves or Dickies. Domestic failed across the board and does care about quality or...
Read moreBackground On Visit: Childhood friend was raving how great this burger that he recently discovered. So we decided to head down there for lunch.
Location/Parking: Located in Old Town Puente. Parking can be found in the back.
Ambiance: Had this old rustic feel to the place. Wished there was more of these shops around.
Service: Service was great. Staffers were friendly, attentive, and informational about their shop. Food came out at a decent time.
Food: We shared three items (Tip: Make sure you add some of that spicy bbq sauce! It'll make your eating experience quite pleasant):
Bacon Jam Burger: Yum! Didn't really taste the bacon in the jam, but I did like it. The meat patty was quite juicy and flavorful.
Bacon Mac N Cheese: Can't go wrong with mac and cheese. It was cheesy and flavorful. The bacon bits was the "icing on the cake" for me.
Pulled Pork: Great! Meat had a great smokey taste and was quite tender.
Food For Thought: Would definitely come back when i'm...
