HORRIBLE SERVICE. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU HAVE ANY DIGNITY.

I have gone with my cousin many times and since it is near his house he has been a regular for many years. There was another occasion where the customer service was bad but I'll just describe the latest.

The food can be tasty--only if they remember to get it and it comes at all, that is.

The waitress forgets our appetizers and we have to remind her. I order a seaweed salad and after 10 minutes of waiting, not only did it not come out, we ask the waitress for it and 5 minutes later she says they ran out. Couldn't they have told me so I could have ordered something else? But my cousins were almost done eating, so I didn't bother ordering more. Also, the waitress drops our food off, never checked on us and got our refills.

So we called and spoke to the manager about our bad experience (including another time where the food didn't turn out well). The manager says we can come in next time and get a discount or more food. SO, you want us to spend more money at a place we had bad service in order to get that discount?

Then, the manager, Jin (or Jean) starts arguing with me about how everything can't be perfect all the time. I reminded her that when things are great, we show it by leaving a good tip and that the reason we are complaining was that so many bad things have happened and the waitress just pretty much ignored us.

I asked for a gift card and it was a wopping $10. Most restaurants comp meals or give your next meal for free. And considering when we spent $45 that day, and my cousins have spent HUNDREDS over the years going there, this is just sad.

Tokyo Lobby, your food is expensive and your management is cheap. You should value your customers, because you just lost regulars.

I implore other yelpers to look elsewhere for Japanese cuisine. There are plenty of other restaurants you can go to where you can get a...

The servers were very nice and accommodating, however the food and owners have changed. It is no longer Japanese and is obvious in the preparation and quality of the food. The rice itself was terrible. I never noticed rice until this visit. It wasn't fragrant or light/fluffy, it was old and cheap quality and it was packed heavily in the bowl...not customary. The tempura batter was Not traditional or authentic. That's a basic fundamental. It was mushy at the thickest part of the shrimp...the ingredients for the batter were all wrong. The sashimi was previously frozen, old and discolored...you can tell by the texture, it should not seep water or be mushy. The sushi roll wasn't even rolled correctly. It was loose and sloppy. The miso shiro was watered down, bland and bare. The shumai was the packaged kind you buy at the supermarket, but charged two and a half times more the price. Even the hot tea was less than and was served in a stainless steel cup so you can burn your lip or not drink it hot. Nothing was Japanese in this restaurant. Once again, it was taken over by non Japanese who are cutting corners, but trying to pass it off as the original. It is not. Who likes being ripped off and insulted by deception? My feeling is that the quality of food served is a reflection of the new owners intentions. Even when the original Tokyo Lobby switched cooks and it wasn't very good for a short time, it was still better than this. It's a shame. I apologize for the harshness, but it is the truth and intended to help those who don't know. Hopefully the owners will do...

The food here never disappoints! Whether you're getting sushi, cooked meats or ramen, their food is always cooked to perfection and leaves you wanting more!

Service has always been great, however recently, it's taken a really bad turn. My family and I walked in on a Sunday afternoon around 3:00 and was seated after waiting for only 10 minutes. However, after that was just disappointing. It took a server 20 minutes to come to our table to ask for our drinks and orders. Our sushi orders came out in a quick 10-15 minutes, but our hot food took 50 MINUTES to come out. In between our food coming out, no one server came out to refill drinks, ask how we were doing, nor let us know about our food. Once it finally arrived and we finished our delicious food, we waited patiently for a server to come back with the check, when then after 45 minutes and seeing multiple get up and go to the take-out counter to complain, did we only do the same thing to pay and walk out. WE WERE THERE FOR A TOTAL OF 3 HOURS.

I'll continue coming here for the amazing food, but management NEEDS to do something about their customer service. It's downright unacceptable. Management, please note that just because 2 massive parties were dining in your restaurant, DO NOT NEGLET all your other tables. All the servers were tending to the bigger parties and rarely checked in on the...

We were there for the $12.99 dinner all you can eat special. It's pretty much the same price as the bento box dinner but more choices on food. We ordered some sushi, appetizer and hand rolls. I have to say there were so much rice in the sushi and hand rolls. From the picture you can see how big the hand roll was. Yes, there was good amount of fish inside, but the rice amount was like half bowl. We were so full after having hand rolls already. Another one was the sweet potato in the mix tempura. It's like 3/4 of a toast size but thicker. Teriyaki beef was a little too sweet but meat was good. For the price, I might go back. But next time I'll make sure to get sushi only, no hand rolls.

Tokyo Lobby has been around for 20+ years. It used to be my favorite place to come eat Japanese while in the West Covina area. The food tastes the same, so there is consistency there with the teriyaki sauce they use. Portion size, it was good for the price. However, the Service was slow, our server was a bit unattentive. We sat under an air-conditioned blower which was freezing and made the food get cold fast. 🥶 nothing exciting about this food experience. We went there for nostalgic purposes. I'll definitely try another sushi place to get good sushi 🍣 😋.

Great service, friendly staff. It's a childhood favorite of mine and has gone through changes. Pretty good value still with big portions that justify the new prices. Maybe it was the time of day I went but the fish was not as fresh as I remembered. The cooked items were as good as I remember. We had two bento boxes with sashimi, chicken, salmon and tempura and hand rolls. Would go back again for the nostalgia and for the cooked items.
