Had a great experience at Osaka Steakhouse and Sushi Bar! A strong 4/5 stars—some excellent dishes, a few average ones, and overall a place I’d happily revisit. Food 4/5 We started with the garlic edamame, which felt like an actual dish rather than just a bowl of soybeans. It had great flavor without being overwhelming, and a good portion for two. The house salad, however, was underwhelming—less of that zesty ginger punch you hope for and more of a letdown thanks to a giant chunk of lettuce core taking up half the bowl. The chicken fried rice was a highlight—flavorful, moist (in the best way), and the chicken was incredibly tender. Adding yum yum sauce made it even better. Sushi was a mix of hits and misses: -The Salmon Lovers Roll was beautifully presented, with a flavorful sauce that made soy sauce unnecessary. -The Philadelphia Roll was well-executed with a generous amount of cream cheese—nothing surprising, but definitely satisfying. -The Yellowtail Jalapeño Roll didn’t quite land. The jalapeño was crisp but lacked spice, tasting more like green bell pepper. Like the jalapeño, the wasabi on the side was unusually mild. -The Green Peace Roll had a lot of ingredients but not a lot of standout flavor. It was also cut so thin that chopsticks were useless—we gave up and used a fork, which felt like a sushi faux pas. -The Vegetable Roll was fine but needed the extra eel sauce we ordered to bring it to life. Service 4/5 Service overall was excellent! Our server, Haley, was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything arrived at the right temperature. The hostess did seem like she was in a rush getting to and from the podium, bumping into people on the way, but was friendly enough. Atmosphere 5/5 The restaurant had a great vibe—good music at just the right volume and an easy-to-navigate menu with clear descriptions (which isn’t always a given at sushi places). Overall, Osaka delivered an enjoyable meal with a few minor hiccups, and we'd definitely return!

Update 1/2/21. Despite the pandemic, Osaka continues to serve top quality sushi. Ordered the Love Boat for Two for take out and everything was super fresh and delicious. Items in the menu with steak, comes with actual steak instead of tenderized beef. Osaka may also be the only place that use short grain for their fried rice which leads to a incredible pleasant al dente texture. Update: 4/22/19. Returned for dine-in lunch and this is now my favorite Japanese restaurant in town. I liked the variety, quality of the ingredients, portions and fair prices. the fish tasted very fresh and their regular beef was tender. The portions are what I expect based on the price. Please keep the quality of the food and service up! I wish they had a drink's menu and came with the food menu. We settled for water because we didn't know what other drinks they had as well as the prices. Although I see they have a full bar and what appears to be a sake dispensing machine. As an additional bonus, I get to have all this great food without the arbitrary Omaha restaurant tax. --- Went there today and tried their Filet Mignon Hibachi Lunch. The steak was very tender, had a nice char and good flavor. The highlight for me was their fried rice. They use sushi rice and the grans retained their integrity after stir frying. Very good flavor and texture. The service was also great as well their interior design. The design is clean, bright and feels open. The dining room, bar and Hibachi grills are separated, which I like.

Returned recently to try some of their non hibachi items. The pineapple rice is very tasty, but if you are a scallop lover this won't be for you, there was only one scallop in it so it was not very prevalent for flavor. The shrimp was a bit mushy. Generally I think they do the actual fried rice part well. It has "wok hey" The udon in soup we had was a bit plain. 3.5 stars The salmon balls we had was primarily pollock with a slice of salmon on top. It was tasty. 4.5 stars The beef tataki is very flavorful. For me it was a bit overwhelming 3.5 stars, but if you like strong flavors it might be for you. The tonkatsu was generally solid. 4 stars The service this time was not nearly as friendly or personable as our first time. She was still professional and did have an answer for everything. Review of hibachi Fun evening for a small group when you do the hibachi grill! 5 stars for the hibachi service. Our chef was friendly, personable and comedic. The food was fresh. 4 stars because it's a bit overly salty if you do the seafood in soy. I think it would have been better with just butter. The filet/steak was 5 stars though. Pricing was fair for what you paid. They accommodated us at our own grill with 3 people. I'm excited to try their sushi. As this was a preliminary visit this rating may change. Parking is available in a large lot. You can find this right next to the Alamo movie theater (also close to the Costco and Cabela's in lavista)

** The response to my review is complete lies. We spoke after she replied to my review. She doesn't want to review the camera footage together, and told me I have attorneys. Our waitress was notified as soon as the incident happened and nothing was done about it When I spoke to Amy right before I posted my review she said she was aware of the situation and called the lady crazy and that's never happened in her restaurant before. So no the safety is not their priority, they had a large group and wanted to profit as we only had 3. I understand as a business they have to try and make themselves look a certain way to not lose out on potential customers, but I promise you there are no untruthful things from me posted in this review. I was in no way wanting or ever requested anything free, just an acknowledgment and hoping for them to possibly understand safety measures for their customers in the future. I was just in the restaurant last night and was sat at a table with 7 other individuals and had the worst experience of my life. One person from the other party was overly intoxicated and physically threatened my friend in my party. My friend cancelled her order and stayed for us because she knew it was my first time there and didn't want to ruin it for me. The intoxicated woman's two children kept apologizing and was completely embarrassed by her behavior. The entire time we were there we weren't asked if we needed refills and nobody came to clear the tables so my friend had to keep clearing the dishes and go hand them to the wait staff just standing around. My friend was served almost half less rice than everyone else at the table, The lobster rolls were AMAZING, I ordered a Mia Tai it was very watered down, I asked for my steak medium rare, it was beyond well done but flavorful. The shrimp was overcooked as well. The experience wasn't the best and them not removing an individual that was belligerent, intoxicated, and physically threatening other customers was very upsetting. Even the table next to us with children were uncomfortable and couldn't wait to leave. When I called today and spoke with the restaurant manager she did apologize because she was there when it happened and was aware of the situation, but said it wasn't her fault that the lady acted like that and physically threatened my friend, and refused to rectify the situation. I should have just told my friends we should leave. I've been to Kobe's and Genji's steakhouse and have had wonderful food, entertainment and courteous customer service from the wait staff. If you are thinking of going to Osaka because they are priced a little cheaper than others, I would just spend the extra...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Osaka in Omaha, and I must say, it was a truly exceptional experience from start to finish. I can confidently give this restaurant a well-deserved 5-star rating.

First and foremost, let's talk about the food. The grilled chicken I ordered was an absolute delight. It was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and had that delectable charred goodness that makes your taste buds dance with joy. The attention to detail in seasoning and preparation was evident, and I couldn't have asked for a more satisfying dish.

Not only was the food outstanding, but the service provided by our server, Yuriel, truly made the experience memorable. From the moment we walked in, Yuriel greeted us with a warm smile and a genuine enthusiasm for ensuring our dining experience was top-notch. He was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations when it came to choosing from the menu. His friendly and professional demeanor added an extra layer of enjoyment to our evening, and we felt genuinely cared for throughout our meal.

Furthermore, the overall ambiance of the restaurant was delightful. The contemporary yet cozy decor, combined with the soothing background music, created a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. The attention to detail in the restaurant's design and the cleanliness of the space added to the overall positive experience.

I must also mention that the staff as a whole seemed well-trained and efficient, working seamlessly to ensure that all guests received excellent service. From the moment we stepped through the door until the end of our meal, the entire team at Osaka in Omaha showed a commitment to customer satisfaction that exceeded our expectations.

In summary, I cannot recommend Osaka in Omaha enough. From the mouthwatering and flavorful grilled chicken to the exceptional service provided by Yuriel, this restaurant truly deserves a perfect 5-star rating. Whether you're looking for a delightful dining experience, attentive service, or simply a fantastic meal, Osaka in Omaha is the place to go. You won't be disappointed!

(Note: This review is based on my personal experience and may vary from others, but I believe it accurately reflects the outstanding qualities of...

This review is for the dining side, we did not do the hibachi. The place is pretty small, which isn’t a problem, but if you have a larger group of 6+ calling ahead would be wise. We went on a Sunday night at around 6:30 or so. The server was friendly and we were seated quickly. The Hibachi side was full, but the dining side only had a handful of people.

The food was hit or miss. Ginger salad was delicious and the clear soup was average. A few people ordered the dinner bento box and we all got different proteins. The chicken was pretty good and the beef was alright. Tempura was crispy and cooked perfectly. The teriyaki sauce that comes on the main protein was quite good and balanced in flavor. The gyoza were small and the flavor was kind of “meh”. I’ve had better. California rolls were average.

Some people ordered other food, fried rice was reports as being delicious. Tonkatsu was also reported as being good. Hibachi chicken and steak was reported as average.

There was a mysterious brown sauce on the plate that didn’t have much flavor and I felt made the gyoza it was poured over worse. There was also some poured with the sushi, so that was odd. Would be better to serve it on the side if anything. There was also another sauce that came in a bowl. It didn’t really taste like anything and didn’t add any flavor to what we dipped in it. I kind of wish it was teriyaki sauce or tonkatsu sauce instead. We got one box with salmon and it was overcooked and dry, resembling the texture of canned fish, which was disappointing. I felt the soy sauce at the table could have been a little more flavorful.

The presentation of all the food was nice. Lights in the main dining area were a little on the dim side. Tables were clean and set up nicely with clean sauce dishes, an extra plate, a napkin, and cutlery. Overall my experience was closer to 3.5 stars. For the prices and overall vibe the place gives off, I was expecting better and some things fell short of that expectation, so I went with 3. If I came back, I’d order some of the more standard “safe” options. I would like to explore the menu a bit more, but the randomness of quality and flavor leaves me skeptical of...
