Happy Cow Ice Cream Shop — Restaurant in Laconia

I have been to nearly every ice cream shop in the Lakes Region, and this one is my favorite for both quality and price. I've been coming here for three years. Shibley's in Alton takes second place, but they are more on the expensive side. There's also Station 66 in Jaffrey, which serves a lot of the same flavors, but they are even more on the expensive side.

My favorite flavors are peppermint stick, maple walnut, peanut butter 180, coconut, and Boston blackout.

It's usually the owner who will serve you at the very beginning and end of the season. She's a nice lady. During the summer, however, it's mostly high School girls. Their customer service is about what you would expect. I have been served by girls ranging from indifferent to slightly friendly, and there were times that I wished I had not tipped. However, if the girls put in another 10% effort to be more cheerful and friendly, then this would undoubtedly be the best ice...

Like every other ice cream place in this region what you ask for and what you get from the grimy facade, smelling of cleaning chemicals, and grumpy employees are two different things. This is my second time here this week, I figured I'd give it another try, just in case last time was a fluke but, they are consistent. My milk shake is full of little ice balls, and other memorabilia from the scooping process, I think that last chunk was probably coconut, (let's hope!). And it tastes a little off to me but nothing I can nail down exactly, It's supposed to be chocolate. At least it's cold and refreshing and maybe their other stuff is good. For their sake I hope it is all I can say is don't get...

We went to this ice cream shop one night for dessert, which was great considering many other Ice cream places were closed for the season or for whatever reason. The staff here was nice, and we both thought our ice creams were very good. There is a display showing the various cones which included a pinecone that they were out of... They got jokes here - lol There are lots of oddly named ice cream flavors on the menu, but not to worry, the staff is knowledgeable and knows the products well. I got the Monkey Around ice cream in a waffle cone. What's in it? Good stuff... This place is recommended and there are lots of good dinner options...
