As this restaurant continues to be discovered by Lafayette locals, I believe quality of the food and the kind customer service, will turn them into regulars. Chef Bee's recipes and preparations are delightful. My wife enjoyed the crab fried rice. The amount of lump crab meat in the dish was enough to, not only satisfy, but truly impress. It's some of the best fried rice I've had. I was intrigued by the busstop chicken. Now, the honest truth is that I rarely get overly excited about chicken in a restaurant. But I was pleasantly surprised when the dish arrived. The flavor from the marinade was present in every single bite down to the bone. It was unlike anything I've had before. I was certain I tasted a hint of lemongrass. It was so delicious. If you dine in, you'll find that the food arrives on paper plates along with plastic cutlery. This casual presentation does not at all take away from the flavors and quality of the food itself. The owners, Bee and Kevin, are eventually going to transition to a brick and mortar kitchen. But for now, their kitchen is their food truck. So, it's my hope that the community will support them, as they move closer to acheiving a restaurant kitchen, by simply enjoying their food. The dining room is a pleasant atmosphere with a large wall projection showing beautiful scenes from around the world. The tables are made of warm rustic smooth wood crafted by the owner, Kevin, himself I highly recommend a visit, and we are definitely returning to continue to...
Read moreI just had the worst meal I've ever had from a Thai restaurant with takeout from here. I got the Pad Prig Khing. It had absolutely no flavor, except the spice they gave me even though I ordered no spice. I'm not a particularly picky eater, but I honestly just wanted to throw this $20 meal in the garbage.
I fully agree with the other reviewer who said their Pad Thai is the wrong flavor, also. I tried that prior to the Pad Prig Khing and just found it really strange, and not in a good way.
Update: Wow, the chef here decided to make it personal by bringing my husband into it. FWIW, anyone who knows my husband knows he's the most chill guy you'll ever meet. "Impatience" apparently just looks like standing on your phone silently waiting for an order. (He mentioned to me that he had to decline an offer to sit down, only because we were coming from the pool and he didn't want to get their seating wet. So he explained that to them and stood instead. That's it.)
As for "well, you choose tofu," there are plenty of Thai restaurants that can/do make tofu flavorful. I agree with the chef on that point -- we'll stick to those places. I'd encourage anyone else who dares to think dishes with tofu in them should have flavor to...
Read moreIt’s a kind of weird place. Great food (5 stars on just the food - and we will continue to order it to go) but just a pretty uncomfortable place to sit and eat. The inside looks like an unfinished old strip mall type place that’s just kind of visually off. Lots of bare walls, a huge projected screen on one wall (which I will admit was entertain for kids), and random sparse things on the wall, including what look like permit plans for a renovation (which would very much help). All our food came in to go containers and with disposable plates and silverware. Great food is important, but if it’s an uncomfortable place to sit and eat, I’d rather just order from the original food truck. They also tried to help with things good for kids, but were somehow unable to provide a side of just noodles - something basically every Asian restaurant in...
