I'm so glad to see so many people sharing their horrifying experiences at Ritual because it has motivated me to share mine as well.
Long story in short: if you're an international student or visitor, stay far away from Ritual because they have zero regard for your presence.
The staff at Ritual seem to have a screening process for IDs that is stricter than the US Customs and Border Protection. A few months ago, I made the mistake of going to Ritual and encountered a male bartender who was not only rude but also completely clueless about the difference between a passport, visa, and I-20. According to him, my valid foreign passport with an expired visa was not considered a "valid" form of identification. And to top it off, he arrogantly claimed that international student visas expire just one month after graduation, which is utterly false. Clearly, he was confusing the expiration date of an I-20 with that of a visa. The ignorance and lack of understanding at Ritual are mind-boggling.
I strongly advise anyone considering visiting this establishment to think twice. No one deserves to be treated with such disrespect and disregard. There are plenty of other bars out there that value their customers and know how to provide a positive and welcoming experience. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere for a...
Read moreLet me tell you about our experience at the ritual. We arrived on a Friday night around 10 p.m.. there is limited seating at this upscale trendy nightclub and so we were asked to wait in the lobby area until a seat became available. There were four of us and one of our party was a very talkative social engineer. He approached a table of two people that could easily seat 7 maybe 8, and in short order the couple agreed to allow our party to join them. The waitstaff promptly brought over a round of shots and refreshed everyone's drink. We didn't know the couple at the table beforehand but it turned out they were from Phoenix Arizona and they had a daughter in Actuarial Sciences at Purdue. We had the great time getting to know them exchanging stories and yes even talkin about the weather. 2 Days Later we discovered in an old Facebook Messenger Exchange that is their daughter and our daughter we're contemplating being roommates 2 years earlier. This is the type of exchange you're likely to find...
Read moreCame in on a Sunday night. First time in and was very excited for the season cocktails. I’m 23, work for Purdue, but bartender took my ID (it does have a bend mark in it from when i sat on it wrong once) he purposely messed with it for over a minute until it broke in half at the bend mark, and proceeded to kick me out. I repeatedly explained that, that was my real ID and that he could contact the cops and it would be real. continued to tell me I was wrong and that it was a fake or else it wouldn’t have snapped, and kicked me out. Left, explained my situation to another bar, it luckily still scanned. Went back, and asked to speak to owner, and he claimed to repay me for the replacement fees. Out an ID for 2+ weeks and it seemed more of a joke to the bartender than anything. Not sure I will be returning after that encounter, if so, I’ll make sure to ask if that bartender would like to snap my ID again before I...
